Upon receiving Nakar Kor's transmission, Grand Moff Matthews responded, "Excellent work Nakar Kor. I figured it would have taken longer to get into the city, but we are ahead of schedule. And if we maintain the momentum we have, the city should be cleared very soon."
"Since you're planning on attacking the harbour, I'll patch you in to a recon platoon that's already in position. Stand by." Matthews then rewired the codes so that way, Nakar Kor was talking with the lead scout already in place.
After a few seconds of work, the other end buzzed, "Sir, this is Corporal Brauer of the 17th Recon. We're overlooking the harbor now, and we have some things you should be aware of. Although the enemy has only shipped in a small quantity of infantry, numerous technicals have been brought in. But, the weapon emplacements on the vehicles are exposed, so you should be able to get a clean shot at them. Radio us if you need anymore intel or when you'l be attacking the area. Out."
Matthews then rewired the radios so he would be back on the other end. He then added, "One more thing Nakar Kor. We've recently managed to get one of our GPS satellites back online. They're reporting that Grand Moff Blaskowitz's limosuine is on the Rue des Chavaliers. And seeing as how we can travel along that boulevard to attack the Hall of Government, any aid you could send over would be helpful."
He then added a couple more pieces of information to his communique: "Seeing as how if you find Grand Moff Blaskowitz, she'll only respond to a head of authority, so if you could accompany the forces that will proceed to the Hall, that would be helpful. And finally, seeing as how we are doing well, I'm giving you control of the 33rd Armour Brigade. They should be arriving at your position any moment now. Good luck, and may we drive the enemy out of here. Out!" As Matthews was finishing his transmission, the lead tank from the 33rd arrived at the rally point. The commander popped up from a hatch, saluted Nakar Kor, and said, "Sir, whatever you ask of us, we'll do, or die trying. What are your orders?"
Hall of Government
The Shop's director cursed how quickly his forces in Bernstadt were being routed. Although they still held 75-80% of the capital, with the coalition now inside the city, everything was now worse. He turned to the soldier beside him, and barked, "Get the forces here ready to defend the area. I will not turn over this place to the Coalition without a fight!"
"But sir," he responded. "We only have 450 soldiers here to defend the area. And we have very few anti-tank weapons. If they send in armour, we may not last a half hour at all!"
"I do not care! Go now, or I will do something to you!" he snapped, and the soldier ran off. The director then turned to a group of Al Gedi conscripts, who were huddled together. He snarled, "And why are you not defending?"
One of them responded, "I do not listen to you, I only listen to my superiors."
The director then growled, "That's treason in my book." He then unholsted his magnum and shot the man right between the eyes. After the lifeless man fell, he turned to the others, and asked them, "Does anyone else want to become a hero today?" They shook their heads no, and walked slowly out of the room to help defend. The director had now made it clear to his commanders in the field. Anyone who showed cowardice was to be shot on sight. He thought that would put courage and fear back into his forces. If only for the grand defense....

Nakar Kor nodded to the tank commander, then said, "Have your forces push ahead to the harbor. Take out any of their weapons emplacements, vehicles, and anything else the infantry can't handle." He then addressed the Nakaran troops. "From here we part ways. Troops of House Dramak and Telemak follow me. We head for the Hall of Government. Houses Greshnikar and Nalakan, you shall go with the armored vehicles to assault the harbor. Kill all you find. If you find anyone with authority, keep the heads as trophies and send the rest back to the terrorists. If reinforcements are needed, signal with the war drums. Blood for the Gods, and death for our enemies!" With a fierce shout, the two forces parted ways, with Nakar Kor leading the attack on the Hall of Government and the rest of the troops heading with the tanks to take the harbor. The drums beat out their fearsome tones as the warriors continued their march of death.
The Harbor
The tanks barreled forward, with several dozen of the warriors riding into battle atop them like some unholy steed. As the harbor was reached fire began to pour out of their fortifications, but the tanks did a lot to eliminate their heavy weaponry. The Nakarn troops closed in, and most of the troops were quickly slaughtered. The rest surrendered, and were promptly slaughtered. No signal had yet come from Nakar Kor's forces, so the troops set to work claiming their kills, skinning the skulls and lashing them to their belts. They backtracked to the rally point, and each warrior was laden down with the skulls of their slain foes when the drums began to sound.
The Hall of Government
Nakar Kor led his remaining troops, some seventy five thousand, two full houses of warriors, on their march to the capital. On route, they came across the Grand Moff's limosuine, or what was left of it. It appeared to have been hit by some kind of powerful explosive weapon, though none of the troops had knowledge enough of infidel weaponry to identify what. Nakar Kor radioed Matthews, "We've found the limosuine. Grand Moff Blaskowitz is dead. Some form of ranged explosive weapon. The vehicle's a wreck. No salvagable remains. I am sorry." He signaled to his troops to continue marching. After a short while, they drew near to the Hall of Government. It looked like most of their troops had drawn back to defend this last stronghold. Nakar Kor signaled to the drummers to call for reinforcements, then issued the command to charge. The troops poured forth, wave upon wave of merciless fiends. Many were cut down, but still they came, heedless of losses, heedless of wounds, they came. Nakar Kor was one of the first to make it to the infidel scum. He cleaved one's head off with his mighty sword, then with his other hand he heaved the body across the battlefield, towards the terrorists. Several tried to flee, but gunshots from behind killed one, and the rest turned to face their foes. Nakar Kor smiled. Someone here commanded. There would be blood this day. He gave the order to his troops, "Kill any outside the Hall of Government. Clear the rooftops and adjacent buildings. Do not enter the Hall. Kill the enemy wounded and prisoners." His troops set about following his orders. He then raised his voice to address those inside the Hall, "Al Gedi and Shop infidels! You have fought well this day, but your defeat is now inevitable. An entire temple could be built from the bones of your dead, and my forces are still at their peak. But I am merciful. Send forth your leader, unarmed, and the rest of your warriors shall be spared. Refuse, and we will send your headless corpses back to your families while your skulls become playthings for our children. You have one minute. Any duplicity, and you shall suffer the same fate as one Ali Azakam, who even now still has decades of agony ahead of him. Choose wisely."

As he came into the harbour on his modified PT Boat, he sniffed. His cigar was down quite a bit and he sucked in the last of it. He then tossed what was left and turned to his radio. "...Alot of fight...Their almost the...ASSIS...She's dead. Blask..." He continued to change it until he came to the Harbour radio frequency. His modified radio could pick up the radio signals of the tanks there: "Those drums are sounding. They must need reinforcements." "Hmmm. They need reinforcements?" He laughed and picked up his modified SCAR-GL. He got off his boat at the next harbour and noticed a bunch of ugly, scantily-clad things marching towards the drums. They had skulls on their belts and...what was that..swords? Why would they have swords. Guns actually killed people nowadays. He didn't understand, but that wasn't why he was here. He picked up a rock and chucked it through the window of a passing car. He still had his touch. He continued on his way. following the monster-like humans until he came to a rather violent scene. A limo was blown up by what seemed to be an RPG. He checked the limo with his binocs so he would not have to get up close. There didn't appear to be a body, yet. He continued checking. He realized that this was Blaskowitz's limo and that the savages, that was what he had decided to call them, were called in to find the assassin. He laughed. Not assassin. More like suicide bomber. He himself was an assassin, trained to kill. He had about 50 kills under his belt. That was the amount of people he had assassinated and did not apply for the amount of lackies he had killed. He had a gift. At the age of 12 he was diagnosed as a half-sociopath. He felt nothing when he killed someone but he did love and care for people he respected. That would explain why he had a fiance back home, but could shoot someone in cold blood when they were begging for their life. It was a beautiful combination for a soldier. Killing without hesitation but also being able to love without hesitation. And he was good at it too...

Hearing the news from Nakar Kor was grim for Matthews. He cursed under his breath, then replied, "Affirmative. Clear out the last strongholds then we can mop up here. And, I can finally return back to the city I once knew." Anger was building up, but he kept it repressed as he sent out an announcement to all the soldiers in combat:
"Attention Armed Forces of Canton Rouge, Nakarak, and Porcu. Although we have just about acheived victory in this insurgency, we have lost as well. Just recently, we have confirmed the death of Grand Moff Blaskowitz. There will be time to mourn her loss, and the loss of everyone in this after we eliminate the last of these terrorists. Ensure this. Canton Rouge will still stand strong, even with this setback."
Finally, Matthews proceeded to his awaiting APC. Although he knew it was risky, he decided to head back into town to boost morale. After convincing the driver of what to do, he found himself back in the APC, slowing lumbering its way into Bernstadt. He intended to arrive at Nakar Kor's position, after he had claimed the last stronghold from the terrorists of course...
Inside the Hall of Government
The last of the defenses had just been set up. Every defender was ready for the do or die situation. All of a sudden, they heard Nakar Kor's speech. To think that they would actually surrender was laughable. The Shop's director decided to respond to this laughable offer.
He yelled out to the forces down below, "Me give up? Never!" After finishing his first part of the response, he fired his AK-47 onto the soldiers out on the street, causing them to scatter. He continued, "I dare you to try and stop us. You will find we are more than capable of holding you back. For we have the advantage, and you will be cut to shreds. Death to the coalition!" After finishing his speech, he fired his AK-47 again.
He then turned to the group of terrorists beside him, and said, "For even if we die, our cause will be just. And if we can take as many of the coalition with us as we can, so much the better." His speech to the troops was met with loud approval. It was now do-or-die for the defenders. Death to many was sure to come...

Nakar Kor ducked as the infidels fired their weapons at the Nakaran troops. He then shouted back to them, "Such is your choice. Pray your gods are merciful and grant you death here, for I will not be so courteous. Warriors, forward! Kill only who you must. The rest are for the Pit." The Nakaran warriors charged forward, screaming their death cries. The first wave was cut down, and the next, and the next, until the troops were charging over a wall of their own dead. Yet still they charged forward, dauntless, fearless. The troops began getting closer to the Hall of Government. Enemy fire began going wild as fear began to sink into the terrorist scum. They knew what it was to die for a cause, but to see such wholesale disregard for life was more horrifying than anything they had ever witnessed.
The Nakaran forces finally reached the building, smashing through window and ramshackle barricades to descend upon the terrorist forces. One brought up his machine gun only to have it cleaved in half by a Nakaran sword. Another scrambled to try and hide in his fortifications, but he was struck on the head with the flat of a blade and knocked out cold. A few fought ferociously and were given an honorable death. The rest were systematically subdued.
Further into their defenses Nakar Kor came across a man who appeared to be ordering the troops to hold their ground. His voice was the one that had shouted back with scorn at his offer for quarter. This was the leader of the attack. Motioning a group of nearby troops forward, Nakar Kor charged at the foolish infidel. The nearby troops were disabled or slain by the Nakaran warriors. The infidel made to raise his weapon, but Nakar Kor ripped it from his hands and tossed it aside. He kicked the man in the chest, sending him sprawling on his back. Sword drawn, he placed his foot on the man's chest, holding him in place. He then said, "I believe your troops would gladly take my offer now. I will only say this once. Answer my questions, and you will be given an honorable death. Refuse, or lie, and Azakam's fate will seem a mercy. I am treating you with honor and mercy that you do not deserve. Scorn my gift again, and your fate will not be pleasant."
Around him the battle still raged, but the other portion of the Nakaran forces had arrived, and the battle had been decided with a certainty matched only by death. Most of the scum had been taken alive, and these were dragged out into the street and bound, to be dealt with later. As for now, this fool's fate was his own to decide, perhaps for the last time.

Corneria, Protoa
"Mein Fuhrer, we have a situation." Kaiser Lucian turned in his sleep, he then opened his eyes to see Chancellor Sig Naia standing at his bed.
"Chancellor Naia, I am known as the Kaiser. What is wrong?"
"Mein Lord, I know you are resting, but we have been trying to contact you on this issue for sometime now. It's Canton Rouge. They have been attacked from the inside. From the Al Gedi. Everything is a mess, Nakar Kor and Grand Moff Matthews could be in mortal danger. Canton Rouge could be in a state of revolt!"
Lucian suddenly was awake. "What? Send Grand Moff Matthews a message. Tell him the Reich and it's Herr are on it's way!"
"Yessir." ========================================== Breaking News
The United Reich of Protoa has recently sent 2 Leopard 2A6M Battalions and 25,000 troops into Canton Rouge. Chancellor Sig Naia has commented that Lucian decreed that the Federalist Reich State of Canton Rouge is under Reich protection and the uprising would be put down with extreme prejudice.

While heading back into the city, Grand Moff Matthews received Kaiser Lucian's transmission. Before responding, he mumbled, "About time." He then responded, "Excellent. Send your forces out to the east of the city. It's the one escape route they have open, and when they meet your forces, we'll be able to cut them down."
As the APC continued into the city, everything had calmed down. Apart from very scattered firefights, all that could be seen were Coalition forces standing guard and tending to the casualties. Despite the scene looking horrific, at least the hard part was over.
[/b]Hall of Government[/b]
The Director looked at Nakar Kor, then inside his head, reasoning finally came to him. As he coughed up blood from being kicked, he began, "Yes, I am...the Shop's director. What you would call...the leader."
He continued, "I am the sole leader...behind the attack. I graciously praised myself for all the chaos I started...and would be proud to see it again 1,000 times more. Originally....we planned that once we secured the nation,....we would then break all ties with Protoa...then, launch missiles at the rest of the world....thus starting another world war."
He was struggling to continue because of his injuries, but he added, "But now...now it will never be. I have fought well...and for a man who...who only uses a sword....so hath you. Now, kill me. I have....nothing more....more to live for."

Nakar Kor nodded, giving this infidel a small measure of respect. He said, "I give to you a warrior's death. Go in peace to whatever fate awaits you." He then brought his sword up over the man's chest and plunged it into his heart. He died instantly, and without pain. Nakar Kor motioned two warriors forward. He said, "Carry this body from here. When we arrive home he will be burned with honor on a funeral pyre beside our warriors. A warrior is a warrior, no matter which side he fights for."
Around him the battle was over. The Shop troops had been subdued, the wounded had been tended, the dying had been given their last rites. The Battle for the Hall of Government was over, but for many, Nakaran and Shop alike, there would be no going home.

PBC Radio News Minute
"Hello everyone, my name is Luca Grosso and this is the PBC News Minute..."
*Music of the Porcu Broadcasting Company*
"A nearly continuous stream of updates and reports have slowly been given from the Coalition's military commanders. Late yesterday night it was announced via satellite radio that the second Grand Moff of Canton Rouge, Grand Moff Blaskowitz, had been assassinated. That report came the Canton Rouge Army although it was the Nakaran forces, lead by their ruler Nakar Kor, that found the incinerated limousine of the Grand Moff. The civilian deaths are still being counted and the Canton Rouge military is currently withholding that information from the public but what is known for sure is that 114 Roman soldiers have lost their lives in the 'Battle for the Hall of Government.' SPQR Legionary Commander, Consul Richard Nixon recently gave a press conference stating that the battle against the terrorists is "won" and that soldiers will begin to be pulled out once "[Nixon] get to talk to Grand Moff Matthews and Nakar Kor and we, together, assess the situation and see what additional steps need to be taken. I am proud of the Coalition that we have put together but because this is the Grand Moff's country I will have you all question him about the future of this nation..."
"That was this hour's PBC News Minute. I'm Luca Grosso, thank you for listening..."

Upon the death of the Shop's Director, morale for any remaining terrorists dropped sharply to a point where the only option left was to surrender. Every terrorist quickly found a soldier to surrender to, in the hopes of spending the rest of their days in solitude, rather than be executed for their heinous crimes.
Grand Moff Matthews' APC arrived at the Hall of Government, and was pleased to see Nakar Kor exit with his personal guard intact, and the rest of the soldiers that were tasked to him. He saluted Nakar Kor, and said, "I can't believe it. It's over. Finally, it's over."
An infantryman ran up to Matthews and asked, "Sir, what are your orders?"
Matthews replied, "Seeing that the city is under control now, set up some aid stations. Tend to the wounded and the dead. If you get that finished, we should start rebuilding the city." The soldier replied in the affirmative and started his duties. Matthews turned back to Nakar Kor and told him, "The public will want me to say something about this. I ensure that this time, no terrorist will attack. I'll ensure that if you stay, this won't happen again."
OOC: I'll be adding another post to this in a few minutes.

A couple of days later
All throughout the city of Bernstadt, flags were flown at half-staff in remembrance of the attack. Lining the street leading to Grindelwald Square were civilians who despite the attack, still decided to attend Matthews' speech. They knew they wanted to hear what he had to say about the attack. And on the sides, soldiers from all coalition nations were in perfect formation.
Everyone who couldn't attend was either watching the speech on telecasts throughout the cities, or listening in on the radios. Even in the rainy weather, the numbers were enormous. As murmurs went through the crowd, Grand Moff Matthews finally arrived at the podium, flanked by a few soldiers from all of the coalition.
He began his speech with a solemn tome:
"People of the Federalist Reich State of Canton Rouge, and soldiers from the Kingdom of Nakarak, Roman Republic of Porcu, and United Reich of Protoa. One week ago, was the Day of Remembrance, a time where we honor what our nation has done. Instead, chaos, death and destruction was what we received."
"Many people have died," he continued. "Among them were numerous civilians. Although we do not have an accurate count as of yet, the numbers are at least 10,000. In addition, soldiers from not only our nation, but the coalition nations have perished as well. They went down in an honorable death."
"But one person who died in this has truly affected me. The death of Grand Moff Johanna Blaskowitz." As he said that, tears started to form on the citizens. Although they did not really like her, they knew that the loss of such a figure was heart wrenching. Matthews went on, "She was attacked in the most cowardly manner possible. For that, I hope you all find some time to honor her memory."
"Finally, I want to make it clear that this will not be an event that will not be forgotten. For this, a monument here will be erected to show the sacrifices everyone made to make it through this tough time. Not only will one be dedicated for the coalition forces, but one will also be for Grand Moff Blaskowitz."
"Canton Rouge has always made it through tough times, and we will make it through here. We've already begun rebuilding this city, and other areas that suffered attacks. I know that this will not be easy, but if we all help out, then we will rise again."
Grand Moff Matthews ended his speech, and awaited anyone else who wanted to make an announcement.

Nakar Kor rose at the end of Matthews' speech in order to make his own. Walking to the podium, his towering, battle scarred form provided a stark contrast to the more civilized appearance of the Grand Moff. He spoke:
"People of Canton Rouge, warriors of my own people, soldiers of Porcu and Protoa, we have bought our victory at a heavy price. I did not know Grand Moff Blaskowitz, but her death is still a burden on my heart. More dear to me are the lives of my own men, great warriors all, who now are with the Gods in their eternal rest. Of the seventy five thousand warriors who answered the call to war, only fifty thousand will return to their families. Each was a friend, and I would gladly give my life if but one of them could live. For their sacrifice, and for their valor, I honor them." He, and the surviving Nakaran warriors there assembled, crossed their arms over their chests in salute to the honored dead.
"Canton Rouge has weathered this storm, and remains yet standing. There will be other trials in the future, some greater than this. When Canton Rouge needs a strong arm and a keen sword, Nakarak will be there to answer the call. Together we shall stand through these dark times." He saluted once more, then returned to his seat.

Consul Richard Nixon, the Commander of the SPQR Expeditionary Force, clapped with everyone else as Nakar Kor took his seat and then rose and made his way to the podium.
"I first wish to acknowledge the sacrifice Grand Moff Blaskowitz made for her country and wish to say that the SPQR will never allow her memory to be forgotten, may she rest in peace. I also wish to acknowledge the bravery, strength, and determination the soldiers of the Coalition exerted on the field of battle. This crisis brought many to their limits, but many more willed themselves to overcome their difficulties and bring victory when it counted most. I am honored to be back at the place of my birth, but unfortunately it was under these terrible conditions. Nonetheless, I am happy to be back and as a Roman citizen I now look to improve the relations between our two nations. Much like the promise made by Nakar Kor, if Canton Rouge were to need the assistance of a friend her people may count on the Senate and People of Rome to stand by her side. Lastly, I wish to state that the SPQR is resolute in its decision to assist in the reconstruction process, whatever form that may come in. Thank you."

OOC: Think of this as the epilogue post.
IC: Grand Moff Matthews returned to the podium for one last time, and said, "Of course, we gladly accept your offers to help the nation out, just as we would to your nations if something like this would happen. In closing, let me say that we stood strong and proud. May we never forget this tragedy. For if we do, we will fall victim to it again." With that, the crowd solemnly and slowly left, eager at least to hear that Matthews stood strong, and renewed their reconstruction duties.
Canton Rouge wilderness
The last remaining Shop director was in panic. One of the three was dead, and the other surrendered in return for a life sentence in prison. And furthermore, he knew that he had made Al Gedi angry because he failed to deliver his promise of overtaking the nation. There was only one thing left to do.
He reached into his desk, pulled out an old revolver, and inserted one bullet into it. He quietly said, "Some people are meant to go out this way." And after finishing his speech, he pulled the trigger. He had decided to commit suicide so as not to face a troubling future.
Because of the loss of all three Shop directors, never again would they pose to be a serious threat to Canton Rouge, or the world. They would go back to their roots as being a petty arms smuggling group, but they would never regain the strength they once had.
