Aplogies for the Delay between updates. life has been very busy in Q102. I have recently been elected delegate as you will hear in the update.
The Update Of Wonder
Yes, folks! It's been many, many months in the making, and is using some stunning alliteration to catch your attention already...but here it is! The one you've been waiting for has finally made it's stunningly belated, yet ultimately spectacular entrance. A round of applause for the Update, if you please. And then to business.
Elections
Well, as most of you may well know from the various gossipings of ambassadors here and there, our Delegate Elections have come and gone! This time round a Coalition Government has been formed, so we were only voting on who we felt would lead the region best, regardless of their party affiliations. This worked surprisingly well. The results are as follows:
Delegate: Republic Of Aaronyne (67% of the votes to Joe Bobs' 33%)
Deputy Delegate: Joe Bobs
Foreign Affairs: FluffyPinkBunnyGirl
Internal Affairs: Pacifist Cowards
Immigration and Officials: Joe Bobs
Security: Anime Fandom X
Hospitality: Lamedud
There has been a bit of a reshuffle but the new arrangement seems to be working pretty well, apart from a small disagreement over some pink fluffy cushions and a doll...but don't worry folks, we managed to re-attach JB's finger just fine.
Numbers
Sadly our numbers are staying pretty low, although a real push on recruitment by our Immigrations and Officials Councillor, Joe Bobs, has seen some improvement. With any luck our amended Recruitment Act, requiring 10 TG's per week from each Government Member, will help even more. Fingers crossed!
UN
Well the change in Delegate has seen a reintroduction of the UN votes, which we'd all got a bit sick and tired of and had abandoned a few months before. But their return saw a smile return to the faces of the more politically-minded Q102ians, and so it should therefore be duly noted that the only discussion to take place was that of the Waste Disposal Covenant, which last stood at 7 FOR - AGAINST 2. While this in itself is a no mean feat, given the enthusiam which surrounded the comeback of such an important vote, the true scale of our region's motivation can only be appreciated by adding that, as far as the Government knows, no official voting by the Delegate has actually taken place to date, thereby rendering all forum voting completely and utterly pointless.
Foreign Affairs
These past weeks have seen a surge in Foreign Affairs issues, ranging from the arrival of two diplomats, Klopstock from GB&I and Dionysios from POD, to the discussion of an alliance between us and our esteemed friends in Europa. The alliance is currently only being discussed, although the next update will surely provide more concrete information. We were also invited to take part in the CSA conference which has been taking place, but upon debating the topic it was decided that the region was not, on the whole, in favour of doing so.
Our Delegate, RoA, is also planning a trip of all active embassies in the coming future, in order to introduce himself and make sure all portraits/statues/busts of him are of a suitable likeness. Therefore I would like to stress to all embassies the importance of clean floors, polite manners, and perfect busts.
Government
Three proposals have been debated on recently by the Government, each dealing with a differing aspect of regional and forum numbers. The amendment to the Recruitment Act, as explained above, is to encourage more recruitment on the part of Councillors. The AdSpamming Act raises the pros and cons of adspamming the Pacific regions, with appropriate restrictions in place regarding numbers of TGs, frequency, and eligible regions. This has met with a certain amount of controversy, but looks set to be passed. The Mentor Bill proposes an active member of the forums to be assigned to a new member, in order to help them find their feet and answer any questions they may have. This has yet to be formally written up, but is proving a popular idea among many nations.

Regional Affairs
As far as other goings-on are concerned, we've seen the introduction of the Q102 Rugby Trophy, a discussion on the possibility of holding an RL Q102 Party during the summer, and the April Q102 Awards, the results of which go a little something like this:
1) Best Role Player: Pacifist Cowards
2) Best recruiter: Sandy White Beaches
3) Best quote: Nevareion "I hate people that take drugs...customs officers, for example..."
4) Best Newcomer: 2000AD
5) Best Rant Thread: Pacifist Cowards
6) Outstanding Citizen: FluffyPinkBunnyGirl
7) Outstanding Contribution to FA: Aaronyne
8) Best Idea: Zakaroo's Coalition Government
9) Best Ambassador: Tagmatium
10) Zak's Choice: Joe Bobs
11) Highest Post Count: we, erm, sort of forgot. Sorry! Early indications say JB would have won anyway, so commiserations to him.
Which brings us to our final point of discussion, those infamous quotes that made you giggle, chuckle, or even outright laugh:
Quotes
QUOTE (Pacifist Cowards)
I am lord Hetherington, of stapleton-le-moors, and I am the owner of this country house. I must dash now, the turtles need a feeding. Toodles!
QUOTE (Nevareion)
*gets down to some funky disco*
QUOTE (Joe Bobs)
"Nev Spam: For spam you can believe in."
And that's for this time! Thank you for reading, we hope you enjoyed yourself. Please take all personal belongings, dispose of all rubbish in the bins provided, and do come again.
