Nations/Recruitment
Since the last update, we've had a HUGE influx of people on the forums - from looking at the Welcome threads, we've lured 12 new citizens and 5 diplomats. Our regional numbers are now at 111, such an interesting number, don't you think?
Government
Well, this month has seen the opening of a new Political Affairs forum, where our two parties (the PPP and the UOC) can battle it out answering hard-hitting and cutting questions from our very own 'Jeremy Paxman', Nevareion. As some joking, sarcastic, and IC critical remarks have been made in this forum, we've also seen the introduction of our first piece of legislation this year: The Slander and Misrepresentation Bill, where any player can complain about a remark made. A newly selected panel of Judges, comprising Nevareion, Joe Bobs, Lamedud and Calm Minds, oversee trials and 'punishments'.
Foreign Affairs
A number of new embassies have been proposed, and the Council is currently voting as to whether relations should be commenced. Regarding established embassies, Canada's "Kissing Booth" is proving popular, with kisses happening everywhere you look! I'm sure if you drop in, one, two or maybe five will come your way!
Regional Affairs
From the RP side of things, the war in Joe Bobs is pretty big news, as is the alliance 'battle' between our former Delegate Nevareion, who has set up The Grand Alliance, and our current Delegate Pacifist Cowards, who leads The Independent Liberty Alliance (ILA). Some nations have openly declared their support, while others choose to remain neutral.
On a more informal note, this month we've seen the introduction of the Q102 Awards, where nations vote monthly on 9 awards. The awards range from Foreign Affairs and Recruitment to Favourite Quote and Rant Thread. Check it out in the Cultural and Regional Affairs Forum. Last month's winners are as follows:
1)Best RPer: Nevareion
2)Best Recruiter: Sandy White Beaches
3)Best Quote: Leinstermunster - "You look radiant. Also, when the window popped up, while the pic was loading, the first thing it said was "report this image as offensive/adult content." I was thinking, what kind of pic is this???"
4)Best Newcomer: Aaronyne
5)Best Rant Forum: tied between "Danger! Socialism!" (The Western Kingdoms) and "The Joys of Patriotism and Such" (Joe Bobs)
6)Outstanding Citizen: Nevareion
7)Outstanding Contribution to Foreign Affairs: Zakaroo
8)Highest Post Count: Nevareion
9)Zak's Choice: Calm Minds
Well done to all those who took home a coveted award and to all those who were nominated.
Events
Random Threads has seen some popular topics lately, namely the Alphabet Soup thread and the Describe The Poster Above, where a top-level Government sex scandal has been revealed between our new Delegate and the Minister for Internal Affairs. Tune in for more details! Other topics of interest include 'the joy of Patriotism and such', the 'Pirates vs. Samurai vs. Ninjas', and the on-going 'American Politics' threads.
Further events in Q102 see the possible, or probable forging of a Q102 UN-esque board, possibly to be called 'The League Of Nations.' This board may include a Security Council to replace the inactive Regional Defence Squad. Any rulings brought about would be implemented by the courts. The creation of this came about by the conflict of including RP based issues in political agendas, such as terrorism. Some nations inactive in RPs but active in parliament found their inclusion unfair, and rightly so, and this seems to be the best possible solution to the problem.
Quotes
Well, we've seen hilarious comments galore recently, but here's our pick of the best:

Yes I suppose Q102 does look a bit like cereal - with a 2 big manky freako flakes in the middle.
QUOTE (Joe Bobs Jan 26 2006 @ 06:36 PM)
that's probably the only time I've ever made a 'manly' joke and now I feel all dirty and footbally and beery inside. Bleurgh!
Resignation
Sadly, Naverion was forced to resign as Delegate of Q102 as RL forced him to commit little time to NS and Q102. However he still lingers trying to stir up political debate to make things interesting.
So, thats it for another 'week'! Things sure have happened, maybe because of all the Christmas cheer. Hope everything is peachy in your esteemed region. Until next time!
