Welcome to El Repaso de La Liga de Los Alacranes, where it's all futbol, all the time.
First off, we recap what happened the prior week.
Los Alacranes West's own Club Santos Laguna was defeated last week in a nail-biting 2-1 loss. Los Santos, as they are normally referred to, lost the match when goalkeeper Oswaldo Sanchez missed the block of a header by UC Sampdoria's forward.
Also, Los Alacranes South's Guadalajara lost to Barcelona in a whopping 3-1 loss. When found for comment, coach Efrain Flores attributed the loss to the red card of their premier forward, Omar Bravo, on what he called, "a controversial call". Nevertheless, Bravo had managed to score the one and only goal for Las Chivas, as they are known, late in the first half.
Now, all is not bad in the land of Los Alacranes. In fact, things have been looking up this week. One could contribute it to a home field advantage, or just a matter of luck, but both teams were able to pull out a victory this week.
Goalkeeper Sanchez had his work cut out for him, blocking a total of 6 on-goal shots. Yet you mustn't give all of the credit to just him, because Los Santos managed to score three goals on Yokohama F. Marinos. Forward Christian Benitez scored a goal late in the first half and thirty minutes into the second, while forward Vicente Matias Vuoso scored one early in the second half. Santos won the game, 3-0.
Las Chivas picked up the win against Eintract Frankfurt earlier this week. Throughout much of the game, it seemed that both teams were going to go into over time. That was until 15 minutes were left in the second half, and midfielder Ramon Morales scored it off a corner kick by Las Chivas. Frankfurt's fate was sealed with 7 minutes on the clock, when forward Omar Arellano made a goal on the edge of the penalty box, as Chivas picked up the win 3-1.
