5 SIGNS YOUR REGION IS GOING DOWN HILL

Explanation: Yeah I know it's obvious, but you must always take this sign seriously. Generally activity drops signify boredom in the region, which means there are funner things to do, which means people will pursue these other forms of entertainment instead of helping out with the region. It could be that your government is to perfect, a well-known member just quit, or many other things. It doesn't matter, you have to combat activity drops, they are the first sign of trouble, no people means no region.
How to prevent it: Well sometimes you cant prevent certain drops (summer slump for example) but try to do so when you can. Keep the culture fresh, if nothing new is going on culturally try to think of something new like an awards show or other voluntary activities. Change the government, upset the established order a bit, more drama means more interest, and more interest means more people. If a well-known member leaves then try to get a new one to fill in for what they did, another reason why recruiting is crucial.
2.Mass Resignations
Explanation: So some things happened and a few people didn't like it, to the point where they decide to quit. Well a few people resigning usually means their "fans" will quit as well, and then the friends of the fans will decide to quit and so on. It's a chain reaction, the only way to stop it is by totally preventing it in the first place, which is close to impossible. Anyway if people are resigning left and right, you can tell you either need to change and make things exciting, or try to satisfy more people, simply ignoring the problem is not gonig to fix anything.
How to prevent it: You cant, but you can minimize damage. If one person quits then see them off respectfully, say a few things about the future of the region, and assure everyone that this person will be missed. If you do not give people closure, they will take it into their own hands. This is a nasty sign, and you really dont want it to happen, but if it is happening despite your efforts then it may be a sign to give up while there is something left so salvage.
3.Everyone Hates You
Explanation: By everyone I mean the Nation States community, and by you I mean your region. It could be public outrage at how your region handles a crisis related to them (see The Porn Spam War for a great example) or just about anything that makes your region look like you are more evil than Satan himself. You cannot stop this one from happening if it is already gaining momentum, but it does dissapate over time, it is a perfectly survivable sign.
How to prevent it: Well for one always act nice, unless the public wants you to do otherwise. You can ice the cake and nobody will care if you are condemning a region but take away the "fluff" and you got a big incident on your hands (points at self), so you can either flip off your opponent under the table, or you can just plain flip them off. If this sign has already begun to happen then once again, act nice, but also try to stay out of the news. You do not want your region to be related to "bad" or "evil" and the more those words appear by your reginos name the more trouble you are in. Try to let it blow over, honestly it's all you can do.
4.Nobody Wants To Recruit
Explanation: Everyone is bored (see sign 1) or just do not want to recruit, whats the worst that can happen? You can start with either "total catastrophe" or "silent death" to answer that question. This si the biggest problem that regions face, members will leave, and it is up to you to find replacements. Humans are a renewable resource, but only if you work at finding them. Recruiting is a long and unpleasent experience but soembody's got to do it. I dont care if you get the regional idiot to do it just do it. People are the only thing keeping your region going.
How to prevent it: Well you can either implement laws to make people recruit (this can backfire horribly) or you can just recruit and encourage others to recruit. It's as simple as that, but unfortunatly it seems to be one of the things nobody is willing to do.
5.You are Considering Other Regions as a Home
Explanation: It's pretty self-explanatory, if you think the ship is gonig to sink then logically you will start to swim to a better boat. If you yourself are considering other places as "backup regions", you probably dont have much faith in your current home. May be a result of all previous signs, or curiosity. It's perfectly normal for someone to switch regions and go back again (I myself am still on my first "marriage") but if you really begin to wonder if other places may be better then this can be a definite sign that your region has "lost it".
How to prevent it: By preventing/fixing signs 1-4. Generally if you are at this stage then it may be a sign that your region is in fact dead.
