They watched as the Brigands reloaded their 155mm guns. It would only be a matter of time before their shells penetrated through the mountain into the cave full of civilians. The SRC troops tried not to think about it.
There were 21 Engagement Force soldiers, along with 4 Selected Infantry troops. The cave they were hiding in at the moment had the protection of the mountain, but the constant artillery barrages on their position was chipping away at the mountain, piece by piece. A silent hush filled the valley, meaning that the enemy wasn't firing anything for a change.
"I'm going to take a look outside to see why they stopped," an SI said. Before the EF Captain could stop her, she had popped half her body out the entrance.
BANG!
The shot echoed and reverberated throughout the cavern. The SI groaned, clutched her side, and fell over, a dead husk. The Captain looked at the body and shook his head. So there were snipers out there, now they were trapped. He continued to look at the dead SRC and concluded that one of her processors had been destroyed, leaving the other to overheat and kill her. A painful way to go, even for an SRC. The Captain continued to hope for any rescue attempt...
OOC: Hey, Canton. RP the Titan arriving at the main UNCC base in the area before doing anything.

Over Clamparapa Flying high over the province of Lamation was the Mk-1 Titan codenamed FAEA for Far East. It had recently been pulled from its home port in the Chinese city of Da Lian and had been requested by Major Douerington of the 33rd Infantry stationed in the capital of the province to be sent over to provide security for the region. Naturally, the commander obliged, noting that if the region went south, then the unit currently in the region would be in trouble. Inside the Titan at the commander station, sat Laurent Wessler, the commander of the vessel. He had been tasked with ensuring the Titan would be well off in the region of turmoil Although he was a bit skeptical over sending a Titan over when a company of L-5 Riesigs could accomplish the same thing, he was quick to remove that thought from his mind. He knew that if a Titan was deployed to an area, it was for a good reason, and the situation would have been critical to call one over. Suddenly, a female voice announced, "Attention. Titan FAEA is 3 minutes out from the Main Clamparapan base within the region." Commander Wessler acknowledged the order, and immediately set course to dock at the base, knowing they would greatly appreciate the much needed reinforcements.... Clamparapan Base About half an hour later, the ship had successfully docked at the base, and before long, the soldiers within the Titan were out getting much needed exercise and rest. Commander Wessler took the time meanwhile to seek out the commandant of the base. And when he found him, he walked over, and said, "I'm Commander Wessler, 11th Army Group. I'm the head of the Titan who just docked here. And I understand you're in need of assistance..."

As the hours dragged on, the SRC troops and their escortees were growing more and more tired, wary, and weak. A few of the villagers had collapsed due to lack of cache-clearing. Every few hours, SRCs had to clear their RAM caches or risk their processors being overloaded. This took only a small device into the back of their metalic heads and it would clear their Random Access Memory painlessly.
The dead SRC had been dragged into the center of the shelter, a few of the tech-savy robots trying to revive her processors. Their attempts were in vain, however. The Captain just shook his head.
He had tried sending out another distress call, but who knew how long someone would answer the call...
Point Alpha Base, UNCC
"Thank-you for your support," Field General Frederico Lanchinee said graciously. "We are in much need of a transport to assist in getting besieged villages out of harm's way."
Field General Lanchinee then explained the situation and plan. "We already have a possible pick-up location on one of the worse-off villages. Here's the info we have:
"A small village was attacked by Brigand guerilla forces, many slaughtered. However, a roving patrol of SRC MA soldiers intercepted the guerillas and managed to retreat into the jungle.
"We have an approximate location on them, holed up in a mountain cave, but the enemy is bombarding them with artillery shells night and day. Also, intelligence indicates that there are many AA guns in the area. Any rescue attempt will be met by fierce resistance.
"What we need is to get in and out with the villagers and troops with minimal casualties. We are already sending a helicopter company into the combat area. Would you care to come along? We could use the transport."

Commander Wessler nodded, then replied, "You have my word that we will accompany your forces into the area. And once you rescue the villagers and troops, you can send them up here to the Titan for rest and safety. Rest assured, we'll do what we can, but I'll only send down soldiers if it is necessary. I don't want to be held accountable for their deaths, you understand. But if they are needed, be glad they are efficient and will do the job, quickly."
The commander then shouted, "Start up the Titan. We're moving out ASAP for escort and pickup duty. And you better not traumatize these poor souls any further than they already have been!" This was met with confirmation inside the Titan.
"Rest assured, Field General Lanchinee, we're ready for this. I only hope you and your helicopters are up to it as well."

The dead SRC had been given up on. She was positively and indisbutably dead, unfixable. Her husk was stowed in a corner and would be returned to her parents for burial. The Captain approached the Warrent Officer of the SIs.
"Do you have any news at all?" he asked her.
"Nothing yet. The radio is coming in with reports of several sightings of a monstrous craft but no word on why it's here." She then proceeded to pull out a beacon. "However we have picked up wireless orders to a helicopter company to head to our location. I think they're coming for us."
"It's about time," the Captain smiled.
15 miles away from pick up
The flak was getting heavy in the area. Although none of the choppers had been hit, a few had been damaged. The tat-tat-tat of the machine guns peppered away at the defenses as they escorted the Titan. It would pick up the villagers and troops and the choppers would provide cover. As they reached the mountain, the flak tapered off. They landed, rushing out, guarding the area, and rushing wounded and villagers into the Titan. They continued guarding even as the artillery opened up...

While civilians were loaded up onto the Titan, the helicopter escorts were busy gunning down any defenses the rebels could have built up. While it felt like the civilians and the wounded were worried about the monstrous Titan, they were at least out of harms way inside the vessel, being tended to by the soldiers. For a simple pickup mission, it was going easy, according to everyone on board.
Any heavy defenses the rebels could have enabled were easily disabled or destroyed, thanks to the cannons on the Titan's underside. All that was needed was someone to spot the coordinates, and a gunnery officer would unleash one shot of a cannon, thus causing destruction and carnage.
No one even noticed that the brigands begun setting up anti-air to take down the massive air fleet. And they were smart enough to know their puny rockets would not cause damage against the Titan. Instead, they decided to focus their attention on the helicopter escorts surrounding the Titan and picking up civilians. All was a hush as one brigand brought up his anti-air missile launcher, aimed at a passing helicopter, and fired...

The helicopter veered and swerved out of the way but the rocket was locked onto the chopper. It was, however, an escort chopper, meant to protect rather then to carry civilians to the Titan. The rocket hit, blew out the tail, and the fireball crashed, killing all aboard.
As the last villager was placed in the Titan, the helicopters landed to pick up the remaining SRC troops on the ground. They lifted off and flew through the heavy flak cloud back to base, with the loss of only 3 choppers.
As they did this though, a helo was hit. When it crashed, it threw three CSIA soldiers free. The other troops in the helicopter died, but those that were tossed managed to survive. As they shook off the shock of the crash and after helping one of the troopers' broken legs, they radioed for help and limped into the forest.
"We got a radio distress call from a Blackhawk. Seems like there were survivors," the pilot of one helicopter yelled back to the troops. This one carried the rescued SRC Selected Infantry.
"Turn around and set us down," the CSIA Leftenant ordered. The officer radioed the Titan that they were returning to rescue their downed comrades and turned around. They charged through hell for the third time in less than an hour...

"Commander! One of the helicopters is returning to the battlefield!" yelled one of the gunners to the commander. "Apparently, another transport helicopter was shot down, but there are some survivors onboard. What should we do?"
Commander Wessler replied, "Provide overwatch and gun down any targets that threaten the survivors. Otherwise, keep on destroying the rebels. We've just about got them on the run!" This was met with cries of confirmation with the gunners, who immediately turned their cannons back onto the crash site, the forest, and the few remaining brigand encampments, gunning down any brigands foolish enough to remain in the area.
Everyone knew the stakes were higher now because with wounded in the area, it wouldn't be much for the brigands to capture a few prisoners. And if what was said was true, they would essentially be executed right then and there. Therefore, all the gunners were working to ensure that this scenario wouldn't end up happening, no matter the cost....

The three survivors of Helo-26 found good cover from the ever increasing Brigand patrols. They had seen the chopper go down and the possibility of survivors encouraged them to find them. If they did, the tapes and cameras of their executions would be broadcasted to the people of Clamparapa, which would cause a public outcry against the war. So far, the war had been "silent", that is, no news crews were allowed anywhere near engagements are bases. It would have to stay that way if they were to win.
The three soldiers just happened to have found cover with a good view of the major freeway cutting through the forest. This road had been blocked off when the war started and was only allowed for use by military personnel. As they settled in, they heard the sound of rotors in the distance growing louder.
As they were reassured that they were going to be rescued, they spotted a truck moving down the road at about 80 km/h. It was non-military, so it perked the troops' interest. Towing a large container behind it, it kept accelerating until it reached a side road, turned, and kept going. The troops only had a partial view of where the side road went, until the truck became completely obscured. The symbol on the back was unmistakable. The highest ranking soldier, a sergeant, radioed in to the helicopter fleet that there was something very bad going on. When the sergeant mentioned the symbol, the major on the other end was skeptical.
"Nuclear weapons were decommisioned and banned in 2047," the major explained. "There's no way they could have gotten their hands on one. We'll get you out and send a recon unit in, but I doubt there's a nuke there." The sergeant acknowledged, waited, and pondered the possibility of a nuclear weapon in Clamparapa...

Inside of the truck was cargo that was written in both English, Spanish, and to an extent, French. The reasoning for this was that the cargo had been 'illicitly' made in what was once 'The Pacific States Coaltion'. And after the Great Pacific War of 2052, in which the world briefly united to take down the growing threat of the Pacific States, all factories, cities, etc. ceased to be, and with it, the Pacific States Coaltion was considered all but dead. But no one knew that they just relocated everything out into the deserts, mountains, and forests, thus fooling the world, who lay oblivious to the fact that a major threat was looming.
The driver was busy cursing the infidels that were the world, as it was Canton Rouge that had done the majority of the damage to his nation. It was Canton Rouge who took their ideas and made the Mk. 2 Titan and L-5 Riesig. It was Canton Rouge who caused his life to go to whack, and he would get back at one of their closest allies, Clamparapa, however he could. And he had to admit, it was a miracle getting the cargo from one coast to another without it being sighted, because not only was it volatile, but also because it was PSC registered. And it was even more of a miracle that the brigands would actually receive the cargo without it being confiscated or searched for. All he had to do was just proceed a few more miles to the campsite...
Onboard Titan FAEA
"A nuclear weapon?" Commander Wessler asked the Clamparapans. "That's a very grave statement. I mean, granted these brigands have a cause to die for, but a nuclear weapon? I highly doubt the brigands would go so far as to nuke themselves just to prove a point. Besides, it would wipe them out, but it would also take out everyone here."
He continued, "And if you don't have any nuclear weapons, then what does this nuke, or this cargo belong to? I mean if it is a nuclear weapons, it can't be from any of the current nations out there, because we all pledged to have 24 hour security around nuclear sites..."
A nearby soldier interrupted, "There is one nation however that could have done this."
"Who could it be then?" Wessler demanded.
"The PSC," the soldier replied...

As the Helicopter touched down, there was a sudden burst of light from one of the titan's bay doors. It released a small transport, which landed near the helicopter. The CR troops offloaded and met with the SRC Special Forces commander.
The commander looked at the troops, shorter compared to the machines. About 1.5 times the size of humans, they were easily scary to enemies who had never faced them before. The CR troops, however, didn't recoil back in shock at all. They looked at the troops in front of them and informed the Selected Infantry that they were already briefed about the situation.
The helicopter and transport lifted off and flew away, leaving the combined force to walk to their destination: a base known as "Galamo"...

The joint ops of both SRC's and Canton Rouge forces were making there way to Galamo, wondering exactly what was going on, whether there were nuclear weapons, and if so, who provided the weapons. They were also on the lookout for any signs of brigands, or weapons being funneled to the brigands, and if so, remove the cache of weapons.
As the team continued on its way, one of the CR troops noted a faint tire track, and the group decided to investigate, as it was on the way to Galamo. After following the track for a few minutes, what they came upon was a truck with the back doors open, and a faint nuclear weapons logo on the doors. And upon investigating inside, they found only a manifesto, which listed the contents as "Eagle-Class Nuclear Bombs: 2". And the manifesto listed the weapons as being shipped from 'Vandenburg Air Force Base, Pacific States Coaltion'. Immediately, one of the soldiers radioed in, "Commander Wessler. It looks like this truck was carrying nuclear weapons. And our worst fears are confirmed, the Pacific States Coalition is shipping the weaponry, over." Nobody expected the response...
Onboard Titan FAEA
Commander Wessler stood motionless as he heard the news. It was bad enough for potential nuclear devices to be here, worse that they were real, but the real coup de grace was that they were indeed from the Pacific States Coalition. This could only spell out a recipie for disaster, as the PSC was a very dangerous force, even though everyone assumed they were long gone. One of the SRC's onboard asked, "Pardon me, but what exactly is this Pacific States Coalition everyone is so worked up about?"
The Commander turned, and with a grave voice, answered, "The Pacific States Coaltion was, well now is, the greatest threat ever to the world. This nation has a long history towards being agressive to every nation, breaking treaties, and planting acts of terrorism on other nations. Esentially, they are the worst nation you would ever face."
"In 2052, their actions got so out of hand, the world briefly united to take down the threat of the Pacific States Coalition in what was termed, 'The Pacific War', although we refer to it as the 'Six Day War'. After victory was achieved, we destroyed all of the infrastructure in the area, and kept a watch over the coastline to ensure they would never build up again. We believed that the Pacific States Coalition was all but dead."
"How wrong we were," Wessler went on, looking over a computer screen. "We would never expect them moving out inland. There, they must have rebuilt up everything, and now, they seem to be moving back to the coast, with their rebuilt army. This truly is a crisis because now, the PSC will assert itself, like it did all those years ago."
"If we have any chance of averting a full scale war, you must know that we have to find those nuclear devices and disarm them. Otherwise, we could be looking at nuclear war, and we know that a nuclear war will not look pretty. If you have anything to say, do so. I don't want such a place as this turning into a wasteland...."

OOC: Sorry I haven't posted, Canton. I've had school and other stuff to think about and just couldn't really come up with a good enough post. Anyways...
IC The man known only as Kane, listened to the conversation the CR troops were having with their commander. He smiled. He wanted to do a little killing of his own. He ordered his Brigands to move out to defense positions around the base to stop any kind of strike. The manifeto in the truck should have fooled the enemy into thinking they were going to use nukes. Nuclear missiles, what a child's toy. Of course, the Pacific Coalition had assisted by giving them nukes, but they had no idea about what they were going to be converted into.
He picked up his radio and ordered final preparations for his Nuclear/soon-to-be Gamna missiles to be moved to another position. That incredible substance, Gamna. To be found dormant in the northern part of Clamparapa. It was a shame that it had only been discovered now. Gamna was not part of the Earth. It had hit the Earth as a meteor during a meteor shower approximately 100 years ago. The fire-red crystal-like plant was an alien life form from an unknown planet, but Kane didn't care. It could kill an unprotected human in mere seconds, and that's all he wanted. It had no lasting effects outside of the Gamna fields and could be mined safely by harvesters. Only the Brigands knew about Gamna and Kane intended to keep it that way.
Just Outside Galamo The 10 Wolverines and 5 Titan AT mechs were awaiting final orders to attack. Finally, two Mammoth 27s, huge, double-cannoned tanks, arrived with the order to attack. They moved towards the base, not knowing whether or not the CR guys were also attacking...

All of a sudden, a voice broadcasted aboard the Titan that a transmission was inbound. And nobody was quite aware of what was bound to happen, but few would expect who would send the message. As soon as the video screen appeared, a face appeared that few wanted to see...
"Is this thing on? Well, get a video feed through! Wait, I got it! Ahem, hello Synthetics. You don't know me, but why would you need to? After all, I am the one you will fear the most," the voice began.
Commander Wessler yelled at the man to identify himself to which the man on the other end responded, "Oh, if it isn't Commander Wessler himself. Funny, 23 years ago, your father stopped my father out in the Cajon Mountains. Funny now that I will return the favor, and with you here in these synth lands, my job is easier."
"Because this man is here, let me just explain the situation. I am the leader of the Pacific States Coalition. And as you may know, in that 'Six Day War', Canton Rouge supposedly destroyed our country. But they didn't completly knock us out, rather, we were able to head out into the deserts and rebuild from there. And now, we have returned, better than ever, thanks to our superior technology!"
"You must be wondering about the nuclear weapons, yes? Well, originally, they were just to be used against the synths and them alone. But now that a full fledged army is here, I can just as easily use them on you. Therefore, I decree that unless you pull out of the area in 48 hours, Commander Wessler, your army, and any synths found, will be subjected to utter chaos. Goodbye, Commander." And the video screen disappeared.
"Dirty scum," a soldier cursed. "What are we to do now?"
"I don't know," the commander replied. "We can't leave because he'll still utilize the weapons even if we depart. It's PSC standard to go back on a deal. So, I'll ask anyone here. Is there an effective way we can avert a potential tragedy?"
OOC: Feel free to RP the soldiers at Galamo, Duran.

Kane watched as the PSC commander finished his talk with the enemy commander. It infuriated him that they would use the missiles as nuclear weapons. As the PSC commandant and his goons turned, laughing at what they had accomplished, Kane pulled out his pistol, hung it by his side, and got the men's attention. "I see that you do not understand the beauty of Gamna." The men turned around, scowled, and one asked, "What?" Kane looked up, smerked, and pressed a few buttons on his command comm. Soon 4 of his towering cyborgs emerged from another room. Raising their machine gun arms, they targetted the PSC men. The men looked around in shock...
Galamo outer defenses
"KEEP UP THE ATTACK!" yelled the SRC WO as she dove behind cover. The titans continued to fire with their huge AT cannons, trying to ripe apart the wall. The wolverines were busy mowing down infantry, while the mammoths had already breached the outer wall. One of the SRCs looked over her cover and was immediately greeted by a .50 caliber sniper round. Her head was cleaved in two and she fell back, a dead husk. Her partner dropped down and screamed, "SNIPER!" A CR troop rushed up, found his target, and fired. The enemy sharpshooter yelped and fell off his tower. They moved up to the next defense...
