From the Ashes, A New Torino rises!
New torino: Post Nubila Phoebus (After The Clouds Comes The Light)
Following the death of Torino's founder (New Canada City) and with the threat of an attack on Torino looking likely, Torino is moving to New Torino. It is hoped that this move will signal a new era for the region.
Number of nations in New Torino: 54
UN Delegate of New Torino: Woodlawns II (19 endorsements)
Key positions:
President: Aramatherius
Speaker of the General Assembly: Woodlawns
Minister of the Interior: OneBZay
Minister of External Affairs: Euphobes
Following the resignations of several key members, Torino was left with a weakened cabinet. Therefore, Aramatherius took drastic measures by streamlining the government and put large sections of it under the control of experienced members. Some members who left have now returned, and the future looks good for New Torino.
Foreign News:
Relations have been maintained by Torino and her allies, despite the political unrest, with the General Assembly voting unanimously to approve a treaty between Torino and Birmingham. The Foreign Minstry is reforming and the Foreign Minister is seeking new ambassadors.
General Assembly News:
The Senate has been replaced with the General Assembly; which has the same powers and serves the same purpose, but enables all the citizens to debate laws. This is intended to produce a fairer and more open system. Recently, a bill allowing UN Delegate elections was passed by 5 votes to 1. The 2nd amendment to the constitution was passed by 5 votes to 0, with 2 abstenations.
Culture News:
This is one area that has been expanding recently. The first church of New Torino has been founded, and has a fully functioning clergy. It is loosely based on a Christian system, but the literature used is based on NationStates history. Funerals and marriages have already been held by the church, and it has received the support of much of the Torino community.
The Olympics are being planned as well, and a regional flag has ben developed to go along with the motto; you can see them at the top of the update.
Recruitment News:
Recruitment is back again, with it being made the top priority by the coalition government. So far there has been steady progress towards building New Torino into what Torino used to be.
Political News:
There has been an unofficial halt on party politics after Aramatherius decided to form a coalition government. Approval for his administration after the creation of the coalition was hurt, which has caused unrest even in his own party. Nonetheless, it seems that his position is secure, because of the positive changes that New Torino is experiencing.
The New Conservative Party, Torino's oldest party, has collapsed and is probably finished due to the inactivity that it has been hit by. The Torino Progressive Party has suffered as well, as resignations have hit the party badly, causing it to lose a lot of members.
