Woolcott elected Prime Minister
Woolcott was elected Prime Minister in the latest election. He formed a large cabinet with a lot of members from most parties. He represent Liberalians for Peace, an political organization, formerly known as The Peace Party. In spite of his rating in the election, a newspoll shows that 11/18 disapprove of Woolcott's job as Prime Minister. The first criticism against him was the size of his government; just the space it took at the front page was huge compared with many other cabinets in Liberalia's history. Vechta's "Ministry of Insanity" didn't get a 100% warm welcome, either. The most important and heavy criticism are still going, and are about Woolcott's proposal about reducing Carops' sentence. As we all (probably) know, Carops still has to stay outside Liberalia until the summer this year because of his sentence. Woolcott's reason for this is humanity and forgiveness.
However, Woolcott has made a strong cabinet with quite active ministries, and the ministers are taken from all sorts of political parties – from Woolcott's own party, Liberalians for Peace, to the traditional block called The Right Alliance, as well as the smaller parties as The Centre and Independence Parties. The Labour Party is not included.
Historic bill
A controversial bill called the "WWSeti/New Liberalia/Liberalia Unification Act" recently passed through the Parliament. This bill recognizes the shared history of the regions of WWSETI, Liberalia, and New Liberalia (Liberalia formed as a split from WWSETI called the Christmas Revolution, and New Liberalia formed as a split from Liberalia called the Summer Revolution). The bill calls for the formation of the "Liberalian Federation", and nations in any of the member regions are considered equal, with full citizenship rights under the Constitution of Liberalia. The three regions will share a common forum. Critics of the bill stated their concerns about the autonomy of each region and the possible loss of regional sovereignty.
Opposition
After Palestine Free 2 criticised the cabinet (mainly because of it's inactivity; lack of Foreign Updates for å long while, etc.), he became Opposition Leader without any deputy. This branch of the parliament has been set under criticism, and several people argued for a removal of it before the last election. However, the post has been revieved.
The University is rolling on
After a period of none activity in the Regional University of New Liberalia (RUNL), several activities have started. The debate society had a large debate about abortion (where the judge concluded the pro-life side as winner), and a debate about global warming will be introduced soon. Prime Minister Kurt and Hammer have both given Liberalia the histories of their native countries, respectively Australia and Canada. Many citizens of Liberalia seems to enjoy these.
IA! IA! Cthulhu arrives in New Liberalia!
Arriving from the depths of R'lyeh, the Great Cthulhu has arrived in New Liberalia, gracing its citizens with this greeting:
Greetinggs Party People In The Place To Be! It is I, CTHULHU! How beeth everyoneth on this eve of the prosperity before the chaos? Please befriend me and I WILL NOT SWALLOW YOUR SOUL!
Cheers,
Cthulhu.
Cheers,
Cthulhu.
The First Church of the Elder Gods was established, and membership quickly exploded, likely due to the threats of being eaten in his coming "feast of chaos and horror", and the allure of cookies. This membership growth was much to the chagrin of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, which is now teetering on the brink of closing. Not to be outdone by the very popular "Ask a Christian" thread" and the Ask an Atheist" thread, the First Church of the Elder Gods is hosting a "Ask Cthulhu" thread.
The Liberalian language — still growing
The Liberalian language is still growing, and has got it's own Language Authority, consisting Senita, Delta Golf Sierra, New Corsimena, Nothern Sushi and Cheesyweesy. Their work (together with the public) has resulted in a larger dictionary (as well as a downloadable one), and more grammar. The project still needs more contributions and people, so join in!
