VP INTERIM ELECTION
Red Sox Nations current VP, The Western Mountain, is finally to be replaced. He has been under fire for the past two weeks on account of his not being on the forum. Pour President, The Southern Acre has been having to fulfil all the Vice Presidents responsibilities for that time, but now the Emergency act is fully enacted RSN can move forward once again.
The election process was started yesterday by the Internal Affairs Minister, Suzu (aka Alyss aka Lengestan). However, even now it is looking as if it will run into difficulty. A five day nomination period has been set and it has been remarked by other Regional Council members and nominees that this may be excessive. If the election takes too long the damage to the region can only increase, and considering the absence of the President for the last two days there are worries that spam may take hold of the forum once again.
Info: The Emergency Act
Essentially the Emergency Act covers situations when government members disappear without warning. It sets clear criteria for when an official may be considered gone, and makes clear how they should be replaced. The full text can be found here: z14.invisionfree.com/The_Red_Sox_Nation/index.php?showtopic=294
Info: The Vice-President
The Vice-President essentially works as the official administrator of the forum, and is tasked with combating off topic posting and spam. He is governed by the Vice-Presidential Responsibility Act, the text of which can be found here: z14.invisionfree.com/The_Red_Sox_Nation/index.php?showtopic=728
RED SOX INTELLIGENCE AGENCY?
The Creation of a new government body, the Red Sox Intelligence Agency (RSIA) is currently under discussion in the General Assembly. The RSIA will be charged with building up long term intelligence on possible threats to Red Sox Nation, and our allies. It has met with much opposition from Regional Council members, who feel that they are more than capable of doing the job themselves. Several General Assemble members have, however, speculated that their opposition may be linked to the fact that they will have little control over the agency. This have been clearly denied by Winstonopia, who is Foreign Affairs Minister.
RED SOX REPORT MISREPRESENTS EDITORS REMARKS
It is a well known fact that our esteemed Editor, My Urinary Tract, also has a coulomb in the Red Sox Report. This week that coulomb was printed, but edited so excessively that it completely turned the tables on the point the had been intending to make.
My Urinary Tract had wished to complain about the Regional Councils opposition to the Red Sox Intelligence Agency, but instead the edited version of the coulomb set him up as opposed to the RSIA. My Urinary Tract has demanded that the piece be withdrawn. He wishes to make clear that the piece was not printed as he intended.
This can only lead to speculation as to how we can tell when a government run paper will slips into propaganda.
---New Legislation Passed---
Its been a busy week in RSN and a variety of acts have been passed. Here is a breakdown:
-The Unification of the Realm Act
Link: z14.invisionfree.com/The_Red_Sox_Nation/index.php?showtopic=1000
This is the most surprising pass of all. This act formally _BANS_ political parties for RSN. It met with much opposition in the Regional Council, and has been called undemocratic by many of them. There is currently a move in the Regional Council to have the act repealed, though as the act was passed on the votes of ordinary citizens this may run into difficulty. Use of the Presidential veto was also considered but dismissed as equally undemocratic.
-The Regional Protector Act
Link: z14.invisionfree.com/The_Red_Sox_Nation/index.php?showtopic=1003
This makes provision for the possible departure of our founder, Winstonopia. Essentially It allows him to appoint a successor who must be approved by the Regional Council. It also provides for the possibility departure without warning: by splitting the founder password between seven trustworthy nations, who will only put it together in the event of our founder’s sudden departure, and then have the RC appoint a new Regional Protector.
-The Patriotism Act
Link: z14.invisionfree.com/The_Red_Sox_Nation/index.php?showtopic=978
This is an essentially irrelevant piece of legislation. Simply it makes official the Regional Map and the Regional Flag. It also creates a special holiday for the people of RSN on the day that we were founded, the 28th of November.
-Revised Empowerment of the Region Act
Link: z14.invisionfree.com/The_Red_Sox_Nation/index.php?showtopic=971
The Empowerment of the Region Act is the set of rules that governs the First General and Red Guard. This revision essentially allows the First General more flexibility as to how he organises RSN’s forces.
-Revised Vice Presidential Responsibility Act
Link:http://z14.invisionfree.com/The_Red_Sox_Nation/index.php?showtopic=931
This changed the VP Responsibility act to allow the Vice President more flexibility as to where he can and cannot deal with spam and off topic posts.
