UKFA Press Releases - Round 4 A report from the Betelgeuse Star, Betelgeuse XII’s premier ragRacing Club manager urges against complacencyRacing Club de Betelgeuse XII manager CAT5 has warned his players not to become complacent after he watched his side slide to their first defeat of the new league season. “We need to keep our concentration going through the whole 90 minutes. We have a long season ahead of us still, with the added strain of an interregional cup campaign, but the league will be won or lost on close games like this. Oh yeah, and all your UKFA are belong to us, naturally.” Racing Club currently lie in fourth place in the UKFA Premier League with six points from three games as they look to retain the title they won back in March of this year. A report from the Costanzian FAWin Drought Ends for the VoightsWinning ways have returned to Costanzia, and JV Nation is in thralls of jubilation and inebriation as they celebrate the first victory for their squad in weeks. The crowds love their boy, Bob Sacamano, as he got another goal, and is trying to make a case for Player of the Year in the UKFA Premier League. The goal came off a rebound when the Hotspurs goalie deflected a shot by Jackie Chiles early in the first half. Chiles got his just rewards though as he scored one in stoppage time, his first with the Jon Voights. DaVola looked great in goal, and really took control of the defence, but the play of the game came when defender Lloyd Braun made a beautiful stop on the goal line after a Hotspurs attacker beat DaVola. The team really rallied after that, as they were about to go down 2-1 in the first half. "I couldn't be any more proud of the boys right now. The Drake was on the best Hotspurs attacker all day, like a cheap suit. I wasn't disappointed when he got a yellow card, because he played aggressively, and that’s just what we needed. And that play by Braun....unbelievable. I thought for sure we were going to let that one through. I just hope we can keep this momentum going for our Cup of Regions match later this week."
A report from the Peace-and-Democracy FA in association with the UKFA Press Office P&D Dove is Confirmed MIAToday's result away at Postboxes has (along with a statement from the club Chairman) confirmed the rumours that the P&D Dove has escaped and is on the loose. Last week, Roy Webber of the PDU Fans Association gave this statement: "We are currently led to believe that the dove has indeed taken flight. We must sort this out as soon as possible and restore the soul to our team". We would again like to stress that any members of the public who see this dove in the park playing football (his usual actions) should call 0845 46 47 as soon as possible. Any further updates will be first transmitted to the UKFA Press Office. United Democratic Media: 2000UDT News update, 8th August 2006 A guest report from DMCD's FAAFC DMCD 2-0 Farstran SilverfoxesAFC DMCD secured the first win of the season this afternoon with an engaging victory over local rivals Farstra. The match was watched by a capacity crowd, and was an entertaining end to end tie which could have gone either way. In the 34th minute however, a brilliant cross by Jordan Sleuber found the head of Stephen Stirk to put DMCD in the lead. This lead was challenged many times by the opposition but the DMCD defence worked hard to make sure no chances where made good. With Farstra pushing for an equaliser, an ever alert Luke Newton fired a spectacular goal into the top corner, sealing the victory for a delighted home crowd. DMCD Manager Patrick O'Shea said after the match: "I am delighted, this is exactly what this team needs. It has boosted our spirits, and we are now looking forward to our next match even more, but we must of course take each match at a time. "This has been a brilliant night for us. We fought hard, we trained hard and it has paid off." A guest report from Pacifist Cowards’ FACowardly Wanderers’ Manager Gives Mixed ReactionYuri Sashov, Cowardly manager, today congratulated his previously unfancied team for a good start to the season, but had some harsh words for the side after they let a one-nil home lead slip away from them. "It's been a good start, but this was a match we should've won", he said, "We had them on the ropes, and with better finishing the match would've been over after 45 minutes. As it was, we let them off the hook, and threw away points that may come back and bite us in the ass later in the season." UKFA Officials are reportedly relieved that Mr Sashov was not allowed near any live microphones. Rawhon United’s Goalkeeping Coach calls it quits After 2 losses and a draw, Rawhon’s goalkeeping coach has left the club. The 45 year old coach, Nichalos Hike, has decided to retire. He has had many victories but has also suffered a deep loss - he lost his own wife in 2002, which was the first trigger for his retirement. Here is a short statment from him: "After 15 years in football, I've decided to quit for personal reasons." UKFA HQ

UKFA Press Releases - Round 9 A report from the Costanzian FA, in association with the UKFAJV's recover from shaky start, but recent results again disappointCostanzian Manager Zinedine Zidane was upbeat last week after his team improved on their poor start. After suffering a horrendous stretch of nearly two weeks without a win, the Costanzia Jon Voights earn results in all three of their matches last week. Last Tuesday, as was earlier reported, JV torched the slumping Hotspurs 3-1 in what looked like a close game initially. However the Cozzies opened up the scoring in the second half on their way to a convincing 3-1 win. On Thursday, in the second Cup of Regions qualifier, Costanzia outclassed Hekloslogravia Manatees by a score of 3-0, as the JV's posted their first shut out since June in the UKFA Cup group play round. The hot Bob Sacamano was held scoreless however, and went down with an apparent right knee injury. He was replaced by The Soup Nazi who didn't disappoint, scoring a goal on a penalty kick and then assisting on another to J. Peterman. "Sacamano has been just huge for the Jon Voights this young season, and to have him go down could have been devastating," commented the Manatees manager after the match. "But that offense seems to be kicking into gear, and anybody at that striker position could do great things." In the final match of last week the offense took a breather, as it seemed that Sacamano was missed. CJV drew with the newly resurgent, arch rival KikMyArm Argyle at their Island Stadium. Neither team appeared to get anything going offensively, as defense ruled the day. The Cozzies had an opportunity early in the match to take the lead when Newman was taken down in the box, but he failed on the ensuing penalty, missing wide right. Zidane had this to say earlier today in an interview with Costanzian Sports News: "kMa is a very tough team this season, as they have really rebounded well. We really wanted to get a result at their home field and we did. We missed Sacamano today though, as his creativity in front of the net really helps open up our offense. It appears as though his knee was just sprained so we will probably be without him this coming week. He may be available for Saturday's match, but we are taking it one day at a time with him. Our defense is really stepping up now though, as thats our second consecutive shut out. DaVola is really coming into his own now and I couldn't be happier with him. Its still early in the season so we have a long way to go to climb up the Premiership." After this cautious optimism however, the Jon Voights have hit another sticky patch. Costanzia's first match this week, Tuesday's home game versus Postboxes FC, ended in a draw. Before the match, local hooligans smashed neighborhood postboxes in a strange attempt to show their contempt for either the team from Postboxes, or the Costanzian Postal Service, but the match itself was such a damp squib that the even the Costanzians were put off further rioting that day. Things didn't improve this afternoon either, after Costanzia drew again with another improved team from last season, Brightonburg United. A win would have seen Costanzia leapfrog Brightonburg into sixth place, and well in touch will the top four. As it is, Zidane will have to reflect on missed opportunities and ensure his team are motivated ahead of their Cup of Regions clash with Racing Club de Betelgeuse XII on Monday. A guest report from DMCD's FAO'Shea eyes up two new signingsAFC manager Patrick O'Shea has said he is very interested in Costanzia's midfield ace George Steinbrenner and hopes to be able to put in a bid for the player as soon as possible. Strength in midfield is currently lacking at the club as AFC try to push towards the top of the table. O'Shea said this morning: "George would give us the lightning punch we need to go that little bit further, I have watched him play and think he would fit in well. It would be fabulous if he would join the club but no bid has yet been made." Potential stumbling blocks include Costanzia's valuation of Steinbrenner, which is likely to stretch DMCD's transfer budget, and whether or not the player will be willing to accept a step-down in divisions and pay. DMCD are a team that will probably be challenging for honours in Division One come the end of the season however, and if Costanzia's recent slump in form continues AFC may well pass Costanzia going the other way. O'Shea also revelaed this morning his interest in promising Cowardly Wanderers left back Josef Leninov, and a bid has been put in. Both teams are remaining tight-lipped as to the amount however, at least for the time being. A guest report from the Rawhon FA, in association with the UKFARawhon Manager is on thin iceRumours were rife in Rawhon's tabloids this morning that a failure in Rawhon's match against Lisburn Exiles would see the end of manager Alex Burke's tenure. Rawhon's Chairman, Peter Teron, is notoriously ambitious and five matches without a win was apparantly almost too much for him to bear. He is also notoriously protective of his privacy, and is apparently considering taking legal action after tabloid journalists published doctored images of the Chairman roasting Burke over a spit. The fans have also made their opinion of Rawhon's lowly league position clear, and went as far as to chant "Burke Out! Burke Out!" in the away section after Rawhon's embarrassing 5-0 defeat at the hands of the Farstran Silverfoxes. There were even scuffles with Police in Farstra as well as back home in Rawhon after the match, with one officer from Rawhon being taken to hospital with a fractured skull after being hit by a stone. Rawhon responded however by posting their first win of the season this afternoon, 1-0 at home to the Exiles. The result takes them off the bottom of the table and within a point of Lisburn Exiles in eighth. If the tabloids are to be believed, Burke would do well to continue winning if he wants to keep his job. UKFA HQ

UKFA Press Releases - Round 10 A report from Costanzia's FAJon Voights looking more like Artists than Footballers with Rash of Recent DrawsAfter drawing with Brightonburg last week, the Costanzian team has had its second consecutive draw in UKFA play. In both matches, the defensive team of Bania, Chiles, Braun, and The Drake were stingy as ever, and Crazy Joe DaVola has been inspiring in goal, posting their second shut out in as many matches. But the absense of Sacamano is really taking a toll on the offense. "We just look lost on the offensive side of the field. Newman just can't do it alone. We need our subs, like Soup Nazi and our midfielders to attack the net more viciously. We haven't seen a damned thing from David Puddy yet, and he isn't expected to start the Cup of Regions match this Thursday. Everyone is just standing around out there waiting for Sacamano to make something happen, but he obviously can't do it from the sidelines. The defense has been terrific however. I couldn't be happier with them." On Monday, CJV squared off against UKFA powerhouse and nemesis Racing Club de Betelgeuse XII in the Cup of Regions. Costanzia has never won or even drawn against RC, but with Sacamano's return on Sunday, their spirits were high. Although he didn't start, his mere presense on the pitch lifted the JV offense as Puddy, who was on the hot seat already, got his first goal of the season. It appeared as though the late addition of Sacamano was not in the B12 gameplan and it threw them off a bit. DaVola had his third consecutive shut out, and CJV took a commanding lead in Group A with two victories. While nothing is set in stone yet, advancement to the knockout stages of the Cup of Regions seems iminent. A guest report from Pacifist Cowards’ FASashov Cashes InCowardly manager, Yuri Sashov, was full of praise for his team's victory yesterday, the only goal of the match scored by Leninov, who proved that interest in him was well-deserved with a scorching run down the wing and a lovely finish to boot. After a 4-0 defeat, due mainly to the sending off and injuring of the two main Cowardly centre-backs, it is thought that any money gained from a sale of the young wing back would go to propping up the Wanderers' ailing back line. In his post-match interview, dominated by questions of Leninov's future, Sashov had this to say: "Josef is an outstanding player, and would certainly adapt well to life in the Division above. He proved his point today with an outstanding solo goal that put our wingers to shame. Hell, I might play him there if this move falls through, there's an idea! Anyways, I have given AFC DMCD permission to approach the player after they offered a sustantial fee . With Sukov, out first-choice left back, back at full health following a nasty bug, we feel it is the best move for the club." "I must also congratulate all my players today for a solid performance today, a great result off the rebound of two defeats. Maybe I'll even start paying them their full wages again. Thank you ladies and gentlemen, no further questions". Sashov was unwilling to state the exact figure the Wanderers have agreed with AFC DMCD for Leninov, but tabloid hacks put the figure at over £500,000. With that sort of cash in hand, we expect Wanderers manager Sashov to be very active in the transfer market in the coming weeks and the right acquisitions could propel the Wanderers rapidly into Division One.
