Repeal "Fair Sentencing Act" A proposal to repeal a previously passed resolution Category: Repeal Resolution: #180 Proposed by: Imperfectia Description: UN Resolution #180: Fair Sentencing Act (Category: The Furtherment of Democracy; Strength: Mild) shall be struck out and rendered null and void. Argument: The United Nations, AFFIRMING that due to different circumstances different criminals may warrant different sentences for the same crime and such each case should be judged individually, and; COMMENDING UN#180 in its attempts to encourage member states to provide oversight to their judicial systems to examine trial and sentencing practices, however; CONCERNED that the second article gives nations the license to use capital punishment too freely; CONCERNED that individual states may use capital punishment for ANY offense they so choose including, but not limited to shoplifting, illegal drug possession, trespassing, and adultery; BELIEVING that an internationally recognized standard practice regarding the use of capital punishment is in every member nation’s best interest in order to keep the peace; HEREBY repeals UN #180, “Fair Sentencing Act”
Yeah, yeah i missed the last one...oh well XP Del opinion: *opens mouth and is assassinated* imagen that? The UN did it! XPP vothing ends: day before the day of 29th

Against; the resolution says that the UN should have the right to interfere with national sentencing decisions.

Greetings Hyrule!
As a longtime friend and member of the region, and as the author of the current resolution at vote, I wanted to stop by and clear up a few things that i have notced nations saying on teh jolt UN forum...
First, this repeal in no way limits a nations ability to practice capital punishment. It can't. Repeals are not allowed to legislate anythign new. though I may feel that there are times when using the death penalty is wrong and thus used that in the language of the repeal, the repeal itself in no way limits your nation.
Second, I have NO intention of introducing (nor does anyone that I am aware of) ANY UN legislation that would ban the use of CP by your nation. The other point here is that though CP is what I used in teh argument, there are other sentences that a nation may use such as judicial rape, that many feel are babaric practices and such should be stopped by the UN. Whether you agree with that or not, at least you should be able to appreciate the desire to be able to bring to a vote such resolutions. Currently FSA would prohibit such attempts.
I will be checking back here later, so if there are any other questions concerning the current resolution, pleae ask!
And, Hizzypeeps obviously votes FOR this repeal.
