Here I will post a guide recently written by our Chairman, Wegason.
Welcome to the home of the Alliance of Capitalists, Conservatives and Economic Libertarians (ACCEL). We are dedicated to "the tenets of free market capitalism" we come together as nations and regions "in order to provide for the defense of Capitalist, Conservative, and Libertarian regions against invasion, to promote and defend free market economies across the world, and to champion the sovereign rights of nations and regions in the face of the domineering United Nations."
How do we seek to achieve our goals?
For this purpose, we have various departments in ACCEL committed to working towards these goals. These departments are: Intelligence, War, World Affairs, the Court of Arbitration, Commerce and Administrative Affairs.
How come these departments do not appear to be present?
The ACCEL headquarters works on a basis of security, for our members and the work we do. To access certain departments within ACCEL and other forums, you need the relevant security clearance. We have five levels of security clearance. Those without any clearance can only see our open forums which consists of "The Commons", ACCEL admissions and Legation Avenue.
How does one gain access to the other forums?
By joining ACCEL, members of our alliance are granted a level 2 clearance which grants one access to a broader range of forums, most of our departments and discussion areas require level 2 access.
Who can join ACCEL?
ACCEL is not structured like other alliances, we allow both nations and regions to join the alliance. If your nation is situated in a region that is not a member and you want to join ACCEL, you can, we have what is called national membership and you can apply at this location, the rules of admission are situated here. Of course ACCEL also accepts regional applications, we have many regions as members of our alliance, a list of regions belonging to the alliance is located in the public library. Regions wishing to join the alliance can apply at the same location as national members and the rules for admission are in the same place as well.
How do I join ACCEL and why would one want to do so?
You join ACCEL by starting a thread in the ACCEL admissions forum stating that you wish to join the alliance and contribute to ACCEL. Read the admissions rules for guidance. Our members will ask you questions to get to know you, how you think and what you have done, for regions, we want to know about your region and how it operates. We here at ACCEL like activity and dedication, we are fond of this and we hope to see this from our members.
One would want to join ACCEL as it contains some of the greatest players in NationStates, it has some of the most famous regions and nations in the NS world and contains a wealth of experience, intelligence and skill within it. We are dedicated to the spread of capitalism and the protection of our members. We are governed in a unique way as we are governed in a similar way to the corporate world with a Board of Directors and a Chairman who oversee the various departments within ACCEL.
ACCEL is governed like a company?
We are indeed. ACCEL's structure consists of a Board of Directors, called the Directorate, who are led by a Chairman. This Board of Directors are from the regional members of ACCEL, each region has one representative to act as their Director to the alliance. Thus, every region is equal in ACCEL. You can think of the regions as investors in the ACCEL and they appoint a Director to represent their interests. Under the Directorate is the 'Secretariat', the Secretariat is headed by the Secretary-General who oversees the Secretaries of the various ACCEL departments and informs the Directorate of events and occurrences which they need to know and informs them of how the Directorate's policies are being carried out. The Secretariat can be considered to be like the top level of management within a company.
What do the departments do?
Our commerce department seeks to defend free market philosophies and promote the ideals of free trade by promoting commercial unity among member regions. Our commerce department works on banks for our nations and regions, and developing ways of bringing in role-playing elements to the game in regards to the economies of our nations.
Our war department oversees all official ACCEL military operations and defends the sovereignty of member regions. Members of the alliance can volunteer to be a part of the ACCEL army and participate in ACCEL operations to defend our members and control various warzones.
Our intelligence department, through its agency The Invisible Hand, collects information on the activity of foreign organizations and reports to the Secretary-General who informs the Directorate. The intelligence department is responsible for maintaining the security of ACCEL and working towards advancing our interests.
Our world affairs department works diplomatically with other regions and organisations, through the use of embassies to both spread the ACCEL name and advance the tenets of free market capitalism. The world affairs department also leads our fight against the United Nations, we seek to repeal socialist legislation as well as legislation that grossly infringes upon our national sovereignty. We have successfully repealed many resolutions and guaranteed the rights of nations remain sovereign through other resolutions.
The Court of Arbitration runs one of the most sophisticated law systems in the NS world and is responsible for laying down the law when there are disputes between members and ensuring that ACCEL follows its own rules and procedures.
The administrative affairs department is responsible for keeping ACCEL running smoothly and recruiting nations and regions to our alliance. It also maintains relations between member regions as well as dealing with applications to our alliance.
What else does ACCEL have to offer?
A School of Diplomacy and Foreign Affairs, a way to advance capitalism, to learn and to master the NS World. A way to meet fellow capitalists and discuss pressing issues, a way to ensure that capitalist regions are kept sovereign and secure. There are many things ACCEL can offer you, and many things you can offer to us.
Finally, who are you?
I am the current Chairman of ACCEL, a former Secretary of Administrative Affairs, a serving Director from Coconut Island and a forum administrator.
