Federation of Visayan Peoples enters Hyrule Regional Government Ubec City - With the ratification of the Hyrule Regional Constitution by the two-thirds majority necessary in both chambers of the Parliament, the Federation will be a member of Hyrule region effective noon today. This move pushed, for by Federation President Ferdinand Boncayao, is part of the efforts to move away from the traditional isolation of the Federation. Bernard Raganit, spokesman of the Basket Weaving Industry Association welcomed the opening to the outside world. "In this time of globalization opening up is inevitable. Goods, services and ideas are moved across borders freely. If we stay isolated we will decay." While the entrance to Hyrule was generally accepted, there were dissenting voices from some sectors, especially from the military. "The Regional Constitution softens our national defense," says Army Commander Gen. Fabian Macabungcal. " it places limitations on the armed forces not to mention invites interference from outside. If we let our guard down one minute we might be losing our independence to our so-called neighbors." All youths in the FVP are required to serve in the military but with the accession into Hyrule, compulsory military service, for which the Visayas are renowned, could face scrutiny.
