Today on Fox news we look at the launch of the latest of the new Astute class submarines, the announcement that the Pentagon is to be re-built and the revelation that the U.S. is re-evaluating its decision to stop funding Star Wars:
SSN Astute
The latest of the Astute class submarine, the most advanced submarine class in the world, was launched in Washington D.C. this morning. Able to traverse the globe without need for surfacing or re-supply for 3 months she is the most discreet in the world.
Armed with both torpedoes and Cruise Missiles she further garuntees the safety of or Nations waters and its ability to project her power across, and indeed under, the sea.
The Pentagon
Following the Fascist takeover of the U.S. the Pentagon, the traditional headquaters for all U.S. armed forces, was destroyed and replaced with a series of bunkers. But now that President Bush has returned to power it appears the old building could be re-built.
Speaking earlier today SecDef Heller said, "We believe that in order to run this country well and to safeguard its future we need the infrastructure that the Pentagon supplied for so many years prior to the Facsists attack. By re-building it we restore not only this infrastructure but also a symbol of our nations power."
Building is set to commence straight away, with a build time of upwards of 3 months. However the remains of the old building could be booby trapped, but it is hoped that the restoration can be completed quickly.
Star Wars
The Cold war era may be over but it seems that following the terrorist attacks involving nuclear weapons the President is looking at bringing the Star Wars programme back into the light. The anti-ballistic missile system has previously been tested, but many years have advanced, as has technology. The hope is this system will be ready in 2 years. However it is likely to be a lot longer, unless significant money is pumped into the programme.
