New Plans for Military
The Emperor's adviser, Leonard Brown, held a press conference today with Air Chief Marshall Paul Burton, Chief of the General Staff Dick Dannett, and First Sea Lord John Band. Brown unveiled a new military spending policy approved by the Emperor. The policy significantly reduces the size of the Macaronian Army, and also tightens the qualification restrictions and pledges more money for training.
"Our Army will be as versatile, flexible, mobile, skilled, and efficient as ever," Brown said.
Brown said much of the money made available due to the lessening of soldiers in the Army went to the Royal Air Force and Navy, which will be strengthened, he promises.
"As a Empire composed solely of isles, it is natural that the Navy and Air Force receive priority. More funding will ensure that all four Macaronian Isles are protected from the Sea and the Air. Once this overhaul is completed, belligerents would be hard-pressed to invade Britain, Ireland, Trinidad, or Tobago with the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force in their way!"
When asked what purpose the army would serve if the RN and RAF would be as sufficient in the defense of Macarono as he claimed, Brown replied, "The Army's primary purpose is, and has always been, the defense of the homeland. However, now with this new military plan, some of the army would be free for more offensive operations, though needless to say we will always have brigades permanently station in all of the Macaronian Isles to ensure our country's protection."
When further inquired about the so-called 'offensive operations,' Brown refused to give any more details.
