OOC: I guess this is a reintroduction RP for those not familiar with the Commonwealth of Sirrusa-Newton Vales. It sets the scene of the land after the problems it's been through in the past.
Somewhere in the island of Sirrusa-Newton Vales We are the Land of Eternal Snow Never shall we know the sun Never shall we know warmth For a shroud still covers us And that shroud will forever cover us
May we see the day That we can lift the shroud And may we be forgiven For the day we opened the Great Void And the sky fell upon the ground And the great fire burned all before it Casting all asunder
And now, there is silence For nothing grows And nothing lives May we be forgiven for bringing Upon this land, endless winter For we are: The Land of Eternal Snow
-Colonel Sanderson, 5th Regiment of the Sirrusa-Newton Vales Defence Forces Land Division
Donald Anderson stared at the engraving on the plinth again. He sighed deeply before stepping forward and placing a wreath he was holding at the base of the plinth, saluted and then stepped back. The other members of the Executive Council stepped forward, one by one, and did the same. When they were all finished they turned around and stood silently. The snow still falling gently.
"We are gathered here today to remember today, those who lost their lives in the civil war known as the 'Great Void'," the priest said, standing at a podium on the stage, "The constant apalling weather conditions here are a constant reminder of those who were lost in the nuclear exchange that followed, in 1980. We remember those who were lost in that initial use of nuclear weaponry, we also remember those who continue to be lost due to radiation poisoning and we pray that we never again use these evil weapons upon one another. May our children and Halivon forgive us for our transgressions and may we learn from these mistakes."
The service ended and the crowd left. Donald looked up again as the snow started to fall in a heavier spell. He then walked over to his waiting car...

Government HQ, Newton Vales City
Donald sighed as he finished the last piece of paperwork on his desk. Filing reports over foreign affairs was a long, tedious process. Dropping it off into his outbox, he walked over to a window at the far end of the office and peered outside. The blizzard had now stopped, but piles of snow and ice still remained on the street. Several children were outside, laughing as they ran around throwing snowballs at one another. Donald smiled. He was reminded of happier times in his childhood, before the civil war, the so-called Great Void, consumed anything and everything in Sirrusa-Newton Vales. Giving another deep sighed he turned back to his desk to find his secretary standing in the doorway. "I'm sorry to bother you sir, but the Governor-Lieutenant Paa'ihn wants you to send out invitations to the public Civil War Memorial Service," she said. "OK, tell her I'll deal with it," Donald said.
Sighing again, he sat down and started typing a message on the computer.
Donald printed the draft off and called for his secretary. "Please submit this for the Governor-Lieutenant's approval and then have it sent if she does," Donald said. "Yes sir," the secretary replied, taking the draft and leaving quickly.
Donald looked out the window again. Snow was starting to fall over the dark lands of Sirrusa-Newton Vales...

To Donald Anderson, Office of Foreign Affairs,
The Senate and People of Rome would like to formally accept your kind invitation to this event. The Great Void was a horrible tragedy indeed and affected not only your country, but all nations in Hyrule. For some time diplomatic relations between our nations were halted, especially after the Fall of Fascism and so the Republic of Rome would like to rekindle the close ties our nations once had.
Consuls Tiberius Maxentius and Cornelius Scipio The Republic of Rome, SPQR

Donald looked at the replies sent to his office. He proceded to type up replies.
Donald printed and handed the secretary the two drafts and ask for them to be sent. He then walked over to the window and watched the wintery landscape outside the window...

Dear Mr. Donald Anderson,
Our two nations share a common trait, Mr. Anderson. We have also been attacked by nuclear-type weapons in the past. Although it was under different circumstances, I believe we could become great allies. The nation of Clamparapa would like to attend the conference. I will personally be there, although I may need to leave early as there are still problems within our own nation. I hope we become good friends and we will undoubtedly help each other if another situation like this arises. I will be there for sure, though.
Highest Regards, General Secretary Marcus Theafer

OOC:I'm Kinda new to this whole thing, but i'll try my best.
Donald Anderson, Ministry of Forign Affairs,
I, the president of The United States of Tallsville, do wish, on the behalf of my people, to attend this service. My nation has had a civil war in the past, but this was before nuclear weapons. I thought this was bad, but now that i have heard of the "Great Void," I will fight with a new determination to hold my country together. I, and my people, send our sympathy, and sorrow.
Sincerly, Brandon S, President of Tallsville

"The Silent Plains"
The Silent Plains are a flat area of land in Eastern Sirrusa-Newton Vales which was once a place of tranquility and peace. It consisted of a wide area of grassland which was near untouched save for a few villages where people lived a carefree life.
The Silent Plains are now silent for a different reason. It holds the dubious honour of being the first impact point of the first nuclear missile launched in the Great Void. Anecdotes tell of a loud noise, as if the sky itself fell upon the world before a light brighter than a thousand stars lit the night. Whole villages were swept away as those they were made of dust and anything that wasn't blown away by the pressure wave was turned to ashes from the intense heat. Those who survived the initial blast sucumbed to the effects of radiation posioning. With subsequent use of nuclear warheads, the whole island seemed to be locked into an permanent nuclear winter, but the Silent Plains seem to have borne the brunt, with constant blizzards every few minutes. The area is mostly closed off and constantly supervised by local and international scientists who monitor the amount of radiation, which remains very high. Add to this the bitter cold and the Silent Plains seem to be the most desolate place in the nation. A lone memorial consisting of a single black obelisk with all the names of the deceased engraved into it's surface...
