Marcus sat down and said to Jefferson, "I have come here to apologize for what my country has done to yours. The Clamparapan people and I are in deep regret over killing countless CSA soldiers. I am prepared to give you 100 million CSA $ to be given to the families of the dead and your government. If more is wanted we would be happy to adjust the amount. If there is anything else you wish besides money feel free to ask.
"I just ask that you allow us into Alaska without any major conflict. As a neutral nation now, our allegiances lie with no pact, and the reason we supported the Spanish attack on the SPQR was for some revenge for them leaving the CPA. Now that we have no more documents tying us with anyone, is it possible for us to establish relations and get this situation under control? A fresh start, as it were. I am very sorry for the loss of those soldiers and we are happy to repay you for the attack, but I think we should be looking towards the future, don't you?"

"Well..." sighed Davis, stealing a glance at the Clamparapan before him, "The Confederate States of America is pleased to know that Clamparapa is more than willing to come to terms with our nation over the 'Barcelona Incident', and will recognize Clamparapan jurisdiction over the Alaskan province... on several conditions..." Reaching into the interior of his magnificent mahogany desk, Jefferson Davis drew a prepared document especially written by himself for this single moment; quietly laying down the piece of paper before Theafer. Carefully eyeing the Clamparapan's facial features for any betrayal of emotion, the Confederate President slowly drew himself up into a dignified pose worthy of respect and calmly dictated the terms for an Clamparapan-American compromise in Alaska. "We will not oppose Clamparapa's involvement within Alaska, as long as you agree to these 'guidelines' for the province.... These are, of course, non-negotiable terms intended to ensure the preservation of peace between our two countries." ======================================== [glow=red,2,300]Alaskan Compromise[/glow] 1) Clamparapa agree to the compensation of American families and/or veterans wounded in the "Barcelona Incident".
2) The Alaskan people be given equal say in the provincial government, and some measure of self-rule.
3) Clamparapa agree not to expand further in North America.
4) Clamparapa agree to the presence of an American naval base in Alaska

Marcus chewed on his pen for a moment. This was a better offer than he had expected from the CSA. It did limit they're nation in terms of the base, but they could arrange for the American base to be on an island more to the south of the mainland. They had already arranged for a deal with the natives; the foreigners would recieve the southern half of the province and the natives would occupy the northern half. The locals who wished to stay in the south were already going to recieve full Clamparapan citizenship. They were also not planning on moving anywhere else inland into North America. They were going to resolce the little incident to the west of Clamparapa and take the uninhabitted lands in the future.
Marcus reached down and signed the document. "I promise that our men will do their utmost to preserve this compromise. I only wish that the men from your naval base do not interfere with our mainland operation and all long term occupation is undisturbed. I ask that you keep the base on an island not too far from the mainland so as to keep your interests intact, but without disturbing our peaceful citizens. If this is not possible, I understand, but ask that you keep the base's operations from disturbing Clamparapan citizens."

While understandably shocked by the quick resolution to the meeting, Jefferson Davis was nevertheless overjoyed by the quick acceptance of all of the Confederate States of America's demands in the 'Alaskan Compromise'. Bowing graciously to his guest, the Southern gentlemen quickly scrawled his signature onto the piece of paper, and passed both pen and paper to the Clamparapan to sign.
"It is good to see our differences so easily solved through a 'civilized' debate, Mr. Theafer.." quipped Davis, shaking the Clamparapan's hand, "I am happy at the fact that the both of us have achieved both our goals and prevented an unnecessary war from breaking out between our two nations.. We are, after all, two democratic systems which need not waste precious resources on a fruitless struggle in North America..."

OOC: Time to wrap this up.
IC Theafer walked towards the door, telling his host, "I am thankful we have set our differences aside and come to a quick resolution here. i am sorry to leave on such quick notice, but a very dear friend of mine has died. I am hoping to get back in time for his funeral and see to relations with his country. Hopefully, we can become better friends in the future." With that, Theafer walked out, carrying with him the signed document that would give him Alaska.
