Liberalia has a flourishing regional media unlike anything in Nation States. With two main media organizations there is a variety of popular programs such as the forum based interview program Fernetti & Delta and The Insiders which is an audio program hosted by PMK and Trodenheim. The Insiders has its own Youtube channel and is the region’s premier radio program.
PMK (Liberalia’s Placido Domingo) and Trod (Liberalia’s Golden Tonsils) are interested in Interviewing personalities from foreign regions for their Foreign Correspondence segment. Constitutional Overhaul on a Presidential Scale
The Parliament has recently passed (8-2, with one abstenation) a Government backed Amendment which overhauls the Liberalian Constitution, with the centre piece: a division of powers between the Prime Minister and Government and a new bipartisan ceremonial Head of State, the President.
The new President as Head of State is designed to be a symbol of unity and as it is not an elected position, not a politician in order to command the respect of the wider community. Other constitutional roles will be to balance the powers of the PM, read the State of the Region address at each parliamentary term, act as Liberalia’s chief diplomat and take on the role of the Mayor of Liberalia’s capital city.
Liberalians will now have the task of choosing the President. The candidate is chosen by the Prime Minister from a people’s nomination list and negotiated with the Opposition Leader in order to reach bipartisanship. The President then needs a two-thirds majority vote in Parliament to serve out a Four month term.
The PF2 Government, a Month In…
The Prime Minister’s term has been in quiet in regards to the usual social strife that Liberalia is prone to, but theres been plenty happening. The latest Newspoll has given the Prime Minister reason to be pleased with himself with a 76% approval rating and a 80/20 edge over Opposition Leader Latagon as prefered Prime Minister.
The Interior Department has released a plan to help down size forum clutter which has received the PM’s approval as well as starting up The Great Debate. This event will be held monthly, where all Liberalians are welcome to get in argue and debate to their hearts content on a selected topic and friendly yet fiery competition to see who become Liberalia’s Greatest Debater of the Month. The May topic is Gun Control and Regulation.
The Prime Minister also made a minor cabinet reshuffle replacing Northern Sushi from Foreign Affairs to Interior and PMK who was filling in as Interior Minister for the absent Fernetti, to Foreign Affairs.
The Government is planning a Nation States World Tour to raise Liberalia’s diplomatic standing on the NS world stage and to meet with other regional leaders. The Prime Minister hopes to use this opportunity to bolster Liberalia’s image abroad, make more interregional friends and learn about new ideas to improve our region or help advise others.
After the tour there is hopes for Liberalia to play host for a Summit of Interregional Leaders. If any regions would like to take part of official extend invitations of state visits from Liberalia, please contact our Department of Foreign Affairs or through your embassy in Liberalia.
