Prepared by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Random Textbox Inputs
Population: 150 nations
Regional Influence: Very High
UN Delegate: Stokmarknes
Regional News
>Environmentalists R Us On Trial
Environmentalists R Us, usually shortened to ERU, is currently on trial for being a puppet of former criminal Julio Trigman. Previous trials of people accused of being puppets of Julio Trigman have had mixed results, with Supreme Chancellor Validorium being found guilty, whereas Prime Minister Kurt had his name cleared by a trial. This case is attracting some controversy, with the issue of lawyers arising... in all previous trials, the Guardian Council (the judiciary of the region) posing questions to the defendant to answer. However, in this trial, the defendant has requested a lawyer, which there is ample legislative space to allow, and the guardians are deliberating on it. ERU maintains his innocence.
>Defence Minister Switch-a-roo
Abbassia's resignation from the post of Defence Minister due to personal commitments means that a new one has been appointed. Well, by "new", we mean "Carops", who by now has held the post in so many successive governments that we have lost count. After some quick research, we believe since May.
>Recent Legislation
Bills on hybrid cars, judicial pardons and feudalism (one of the funniest pieces of legislation to have been submitted in a long time) have recently gone up before parliament, with an amendment to the Drink Driving Act hot on their trails.
>New Blog Gets Even Newer
The "let's-all-create-new-media-outlets" bandwagon has certainly not left town just yet, and as testament to that, an even newer satirical blog has been published, drawing together all the issues from the "Weekly Rag", as well as including some content from other pseudo-newspapers. We anticipate that there may actually be some original content posted again at some stage too. For those interested, the blog can be found here.
>Miscellaneous Happenings
Lectures on the differing political systems of various real-life nations have been delivered at the University, with more expected to follow, and possibly lectures on subjects that had been anticipated before if lucky. RP is still continuing, and although there haven't been any wars recently, the Caropsyne Lower Chamber has been invaded by, well, the Upper Chamber. And finally, Liberalia would have mourned the death of Harold the duck if he weren't just made up by whoever writes this to have something that sounded good to end on.
