Engul
Zeon-x
West Antioch
Fenchurch
The Kingdom of Paquerettes
No expense is spared in the State Opening of Parliament ceremony, where His Majesty the King opens Parliament and appoints former Prime Minister, Sir Posul, to form the new Government.
The Prime Ministerial Elections were extremely interested, with controversial twice former Prime Minister, Sir Posul, putting himself as the only candidate during the elections. However after the election, previous Home Secretary Flake decided for the sake of competition to run for the top job. Despite putting his name forward, Flake was not able to receive a second and as such was not up for the vote by the House of Commons. Sir Posul therefore was voted by the majority of Parliamentarians within a few hours and His Majesty later opened Parliament, asking him to form a new Government.
The New Cabinet is as follows:
Prime Minister: Posul
Foreign Secretary: Fenchurch
Home Secretary: Flake
Community Secretary: The Kingdom of Paquerettes
First Sea Lord: King John of Gililand
The Prime Minister made clear in his speech the desire for 'active Government':
The Prime Minister had more to speak on the matter of Foreign Relations.
The new Government has many priorities for its agenda including recruitment, greater naturalisation and cultural improvement as well as reviving the Great British and Irish Navy which last term had been dormant. The Government shall have approximately ten weeks to change this situation.
Great Britain and Ireland Hits 200 Nations!
Heathrow has seen a number of new arrivals as the region has continued to grow over the past few weeks
Great Britain and Ireland has hit the two hundred nations mark once again, thanks in large part of the efforts of the Home Secretary, Flake, who has set an extremely impressive personal example in recruiting new nations to the region.
Great Britain and Ireland has been over two hundred regions several times before but over the past few months a recruitment slump had seen the region stuck for some time in the mid 170s and mid 180s, which was below par. However, the appointment of Flake as Home Secretary has seen nation levels rise gradually over the past few weeks and the efforts of many other members of the region in the past few days has seen Great Britain and Ireland tip over the 200 nations mark once again.
The Prime Minister said the following of the event:
This important milestone comes as the Secretary of State for Cultural Affairs, Kingdom of Paquerettes, has outlined a new 'Mentor' programme for new members, which shall allow them to be able to contact experience members of the region for advice as they begin their Nationstates career. The region however remains upbeat about the prospects for the coming weeks as new nations generates the more possibilities with new members to generate activity in the region and contribute towards an ever growing number of new projects.
The current regional population stands at 217 at the time of publication.
Great Britain and Ireland Hosts Inter-Governmental Summit
The Prime Minister and his wife as they made their way to the summit which has seen regions from across NS come to Great Britain and Ireland
The Government of Great Britain and Ireland is currently hosting the ‘Cornwall Conference’ with several other regions in search of a new alliance to replace the inactive Congress of Sovereigns. The Prime Minister has made the replacement of the Congress of Sovereigns and the rebuilding of the Foreign Relations of the region a key part of his design to change the region. The Conference includes the regions of The New Inquisition, Hampshire, The Last Kingdom as well as the hosts Great Britain and Ireland. There is much speculation going into the talks exactly what the final result will be, however sources within the Government are confident that firm progress will be made and a new structure set up.
The regions have all sent top level delegates with all of the Heads of Government present from each region and either the Royalty or Foreign Ministers accompanying them. The Conference has received positive review from most members of the region though confusion had been caused with the naming of the Conference. The Prince of Wales, r3naissanc3r, had discussed with the Prime Minister as to the name of the Conference and had in jest it seems suggested of the ‘Cornwall Summit’. As such, the Prime Minister sent invitations with the ‘Cornwall Summit’ as the header, however it seems that the Prince of Wales had in fact created the summit forum as the ‘London Summit’…though the name was quickly changed to ‘Cornwall Summit’, some members of the region were confused by the sudden change of name. We can only hope that the same confusion does not occur when a possible Treaty is signed by the participants!
University Hosts First ‘Seminar‘ on Fall of the LKE
The Chancellor of the University and the Prince of Wales, r3naissanc3r, has announced the first of what is hoped to be many seminars on the Fall of The Lands of Kings and Emperors. The Chancellor contacted former Emperors of the LKE, Onderkelkia and Julian Anumia (the second and third Emperors respectively) to ask them to lecture on the reasons behind the fall of this once active and successful region.
Both Onderkelkia and Julian Anumia have submitted their lectures and can be seen on the forum here at the recently created King George III Amphitheatre (named in honour of the former King of Great Britain and Ireland).
The Seminar has provoked interest both internationally and domestically, with members of the region and from outside of the region being given the chance to ask questions of the lecturers on an event which even today holds a deal of controversy. The Chancellor of the University had this to say on what he hopes the impact of the seminar will be:
From The Good Folks At Hansard…
The House of Commons during quieter times...
Parliament is currently debating two pieces of legislation which are mostly for clarification and slight alternation. The First Sea Lord, King John of Gililand has presented legislation to the Commons which is already being voted on to change the Admiralty Act 2007.
Due to the changes with the UN within Nationstates, the now World Assembly Delegate, Engul has proposed legislation to change all references to the UN to refer to the World Assembly with his World Assembly Amendment Bill 2008.

The Prime Minister made clear in his speech the desire for 'active Government':
I know that in previous Governments it has become almost customary to see 'armchair' Prime Ministers. That will not be the case in this Ministry. I shall be taking full and active involving in every single Government Department, and I expect of my Ministers the very highest quality of work and service.
The Prime Minister had more to speak on the matter of Foreign Relations.
For all those across Nationstates who believe that Great Britain and Ireland has closed its doors to the outside world, I say to you that is not the case. Great Britain and Ireland is back on the political map of Nationstates, and I shall be making it my personal duty to extend to each and every single one of our friends the hand of co-operation and comradeship. I am confident that the next ten weeks shal see great diplomatic progress abroad as well as achievements domestically.
The new Government has many priorities for its agenda including recruitment, greater naturalisation and cultural improvement as well as reviving the Great British and Irish Navy which last term had been dormant. The Government shall have approximately ten weeks to change this situation.

The Prime Minister said the following of the event:
This is an important milestone for any region, and we in Great Britain and Ireland are extremely proud of the efforts of all, but of course the Home Secretary deserves special praise in this venture. With new nations coming to our region, it now becomes our job to naturalise them so that they can become active members of our community and I have full confidence in the Secretary of State for Cultural Affairs to be able to do that. We have a great deal more work to do though, and we shall not be stopping at 200 nations I can assure you.
This important milestone comes as the Secretary of State for Cultural Affairs, Kingdom of Paquerettes, has outlined a new 'Mentor' programme for new members, which shall allow them to be able to contact experience members of the region for advice as they begin their Nationstates career. I expect this first History Seminar to not only give us a deeper insight on the events that lead to the demise of this erstwhile powerful region, but also to set the foundations for further such projects in the future, either in the University of Great Britain and Ireland, or elsewhere. NationStates could really benefit from a systematic yet collectively conducted study of its own history.
