Today is a historic day in the history of Hyrule. Today we have received word that the Reich has been disolved and that the Fuhrer, Robert Hess, has announced his retirement.
The 68 year old has decided that after many years in control of Robengrad and having built it into THE power in Hyrule that now was the time to bring his ilustrious career to an end. At his final press conference he also stated that his last action had been to disolve the Reich, effectivley leaving Robengrad requiring its first free elections in over 12 years.
In the confusion over 10 previously exiled parties have announced their decision to run. But of these parties only 2 seem to have a real chance; the Republicans and the Democrats. Both of these parties were the strongest prior to Hess' coup and will now look to restore themselves to their former power.
It is widely rumoured that these parties have already agreed to return the Country and City names to their original state before the coup as well. A statement is due on this very soon.
Again the news is that Robert Hess has stood down as Fuhrer and dissolved the Reich. Obviously more news will be released as and when we get it........

"Bastard has beaten me to it...", Il Duce chuckled to himself as he read the rather small headline in the papers. Obviously not much more than initial news is known and so the rest of the article was devoted to speculation about the elections that were soon to occur.
Il Duce too had thought of the long days he could spend in solitude at his summer and winter residences, away from the bustle and immense responsibilities of the Kremlin. Il Duce, even older than Hess, as had certainly left his mark on Hyrule and most importantly Porcu. However, unlike in Robengrad where dictatorship had failed to remain and Fascism wilted away Il Duce was comfortable and confident in thinking that Porcu would never stray from Fascism and would continue to promote itself as the motherland for Fascism. Even now as he sat at his desk in the Kremlin he couldn't help to think of the moments that he could spend with his wife and son, two things that were regarded as matters of national security. Hardly anyone even within the government knew of Il Duce's marriage to the Countess Celes and only one man, besides Il Duce, knew of the son that Benito Mussolini hoped would one day claim the title of Il Duce of the Empire. That man was Field Marshal Giovanni Messe, who Il Duce now was convinced would be the best to succeed him.
For now he still had an Empire to run, however Hess's move and press conference put everything into perspective. He knew that he had to dedicate the last years of his life to the only thing that could be more important than the Empire. Already Field Marshal Messe had begun to run the Empire, but naturally deferred to Il Duce in almost all matters. With as many things that were running through Il Duce's head he had to think straight. Looking down at his desk and seeing Hess's article he pulled out a pen and sheet of paper and wrote to his long time friend.
To My Esteemed Friend,
I had hoped that you and I could rule over Hyrule together from our bases in Linz and Rome, respectively, for all time. Alas, that is not the case as we are only human and must look to the very real future of our lives and our nations. You and I have been through so much in our respective careers that I am sure that no other men have left a stronger impact on the region as a whole and no other men will. While I am saddened to see you leave your place I hope that we will still be able to talk and meet frequently. To make this more of a reality I am granting you full citizenship rights of the Empire of Porcu and if you so choose you may retire here in Porcu. My nation will always welcome you wholeheartedly and I look forward to sitting down with you at a cafe to drink coffee, not as the most powerful men in our nations but rather as simple old men.
Your Friend, Benito Mussolini

Nakar Kor composed a private message for Hess upon hearing of his retirement:
It seems the years have finally caught up with you, as I can feel they are beginning to catch up with me. My injury has shown me that I am not the man I once was, and though I still have a decade or two ahead of me yet, I envy you the chance to not bear the burden we have both sworn to bear. I carry a thousand years worth of dreams on my shouders, and sometimes I feel that I would have been happier if I had remained just another soldier in Nakarak's army, content to fight and die for reasons to great for me to comprehend.
I wish you peace and good fortune in your twilight years. If ever you desire to come and see life in all its glory, Nakarak will always welcome you. Your country will be fortunate to find a successor half as great as you.
Nakar Kor Leader of the Kingdom of Nakarak, but still just a man.

Dear Robert Hess,
Although we were only allied for a short time, I felt my country and its citizens were secure with Robengrad on our side. I valued your insight, and I will try to continue to employ your advice in any way I can. I am still relatively young (OOC: 39), and I hope that in my many years to come as leader of Macarono, my country can replicate the power and splendor of Robengrad during the years of your rule. I know your last years will be blessed with well-deserved peace and tranquility.
Your Friend,
Emperor Macarono
P.S. Feel free to visit anytime. I have this splendid castle near Inverness that I think you would enjoy.
(OOC: Reps? Dems? American Cities for the map?)

To Hess: I am saddened to see you leave the stage of world politics. I have had a short experience with you in the lead, but you showed a good way to rule an empire of far reaching extents. I hope one day my name will be placed as highly as yourself. And you are welcome in my nation at any time. Emperor Tojo

My dear friend, I thank you for your kindness and look forward to joining you in Porcu. It has always been my wish to retire to Syracuse, and now I can at last. I will be joining you soon.
Robert Hess ------------------------- Meanwhile:
Here in Robengrad things are changing and fast. The emergency senate has voted to return the country and cities to their pre-fascist names and call an immediate election.
So the capital is once again Washington D.C. and we now live in the United States once more. The Senate is now the hub for this new election, this new democracy. The Republicans hav named their Presidential candidate as George W. Bush, while the Democrat party candidate is once again Al Gore.
These two men will now go on a whistle stop tour the country looking to regain their former status as the two premier parties in the U.S. with former President Bush looking to regain some credibility after losing the country in the Fascist coup.
The election is due to start this weekend so they can only hope that they are able to reach as many voters as possible.

OOC- Yeah if you could Mac. D.C. as my capital. and Austria and Lorraine renamed to Alaska and Hawaii respectivley

"Giovanni?"
"Yes, Duce..."
"Please...Call me Benito, my time is over. I'm not quite sure when Hess is scheduled to arrive here in Rome, but whenever he decides to arrive you and I will meet him there. It's very convenient that my summer residence is in Syracuse...Remember I had to hide there during our little skirmish."
"I do remember, Duce."
"Giovanni, you are the only man I can trust to rule the Empire after I depart this post. The Fascist Grand Council may try to stop your ascension into the position of Il Duce, but I have decided that the previous Duce will personally decide his successor. This man may be anyone and may come from all walks of life. Do you accept my offer?"
"Duce...I am certainly astonished and a little overwhelmed, but I will gladly accept knowing that they are your final orders to me."
"Yes Porcu now needs new blood in charge. I've had my run and it has certainly been a long one, but every beginning must have its end."
"Is that it then? I do not wish to be ignorant or stupid but..."
"No...you are far from that. I am willing to bet that you are the most intelligent military officer in Hyrule. The only thing you will need to work on is your political skills, but now that Hess will join me in Syracuse you will have two very good sources of reference. Now then...I will allow a couple of days to pass after Hess arrives before announcing my own retirement, pending I do not die until that point." Il Duce took a moment to chuckle before continuing. "Then of course the nation will be in a bustle and you, my dear boy, will begin to lead them.
First, the Fascist Grand Council will be ordered by you, who is still the official Field Marshal of the Empire Second-in-Command, to begin preparations for my retirement party and farewell. I leave everything up to you, but my only requests are that all major international leaders are invited and that my wife and son are finally reveled to the public and the Empire. You and many others I can imagine are horrified that I kept hidden the existence of such close ties, however you must understand that men like us are always targets and so are our families. I have avoided over a dozen attempts at my life and I didn't wish for anything to happen to Celes or young Mussolini."
"I understand completely Duce and I apologize for still being somewhat shocked...I will do my best..."
"I have no doubt that your best will certainly be more than enough and may even be better than my best, but that, my boy, is for history to decide. Now it is late and I am tired...We will speak again soon and please try to find out more information on Hess's arrival."
"I will..."

The election here in the United States that was conducted yesterday has finally returned this nation to its pre-fascist days. The people have elected George W. Bush and his Republican party to lead this nation through its re-building.
It is believed President-elect Bush will be sworn into office in the next few hours. In doing so he will become the nations 43rd President in its 250 year history.
Speaking to the average voters it is no suprise he was elected. Many believed his strong stance against terror in Hyrule played a strong part in his appointment, particulaly after the two nuclear explosions in Hyrule.
It is also believed his desire to create greater peace and unity in Hyrule was a strong point in his manifesto. The region is now very war weary and needs to be brought to a time of peace. Clearly the people of the U.S. believe George W. is the man to bring this time of Peace.

Dear Democratic Friends, Although the once called Brazil, now called Spaizil (Spain and Brazil) was an enemy of Robengrad, we wish you well in your democracy and new beggining. I pray that fruitfull negotiations may begin soon between our two great nations as we are both Democracies. I feel that a freindship between us would be a grand one, one that would benefit both of us and the rest of Hyrule. I wish you luck in your upcoming elections and to the future of your nation. Yours, President Gavin Metz Leader of Spaizil

Today President Bush was inaugurated into office for the second time. Becoming the 43rd President of the United States, and the first since the Fascist coup. In his inauguration speech he laid down some key principles for his coming term;
"My fellow Americans, Today we go back to normality. It has been a long hard slog for many of us, and there are many who have never lived in a democracy before, but now we can return to normality and prepare ourselves for the coming challenges ahead.
"We live in turbulent times. The region of Hyrule has ben ravaged by war for too long now, and it is my fond hope that I can bring this region back to a more peaceful way of life. I hope that through meeting the leaders of other nations I can calm tensions that have existed for many, many years.
"I also hope to continue our special relationship with Porcu as, although they remain a Fascist nation the bonds between our countries have always been strong and mutually beneficial.
"In the coming week I will be heading on a whistlestop tour of Hyrule and hoping to begin this healing process. But for now I hope to bring this nation back to its pre-facsist status as the leader of the free world.
"God bless America!!"

News ReportJust as one of Hyrule's most infamous political leaders has stepped down and retired from his throne in Robengrad so too has his longtime counterpart across the sea in Porcu retired. Earlier this morning Hess arrived from Robengrad and landed in Rome's International Airport to a sea of people eager to get the first glimpse of the aged legend. He was welcomed just as if he was still Der Fuhrer, with Legionaries of the Esercito Fascista lined up on the ground and Il Duce waiting at the end. Hess is regarded by many in Porcu as one of the Empire's few true friends and the people certainly were overjoyed to hear that Hess planed to spend the rest of his days in Porcu. Il Duce, older than Hess by 21 years, waited patiently for Hess and as the formalities continued Il Duce brought Hess over to a small platform that had been set up several hours before Hess's arrival. Letting Hess climb the small stairs up to the platform Il Duce then had him sit next to Field Marshal Messe, who Hess hadn't noticed until that point. For the first time in their entire friendship Hess noticed how old and fragile Il Duce was. With the crowd now gathered around the platform and various news cameras pointing in his direction Il Duce began. "My fellow Fascists...It is with great pleasure that I welcome one of the Empire's greatest allies and my personal friend. Hess will always be welcome in Porcu and I hope that everyone will treat him just as well as you would and will treat me..." Il Duce took a moment to let that last part sink in. "I have gotten old as well and perhaps I should have done this years ago, but now I feel is a perfect moment, one that history will certainly not forget. I now announce my official retirement as Il Duce of the Empire of Porcu." Benito Mussolini fought to speak over the crowd, but his age had finally caught up to him and he just couldn't raise his voice enough. With the aid of Hess and Messe the crowd's noise level fell and Mussolini was able to continue. "...As my last order to the Empire I hereby decree Giovanni Messe, the Field Marshal of the Empire, the new Duce of Porcu..." Giovanni Messe in Field Marshall Uniform

Dear Mussolini, You were always a man that my fathered admired. He was always looking to have you as a friend. I wish you well in your retirement and future years in Hyrule. I pray that your new leader will prove to be as worthy of a man as you. Yours, President Metz Leader of Spaizil
Dear Field Marshall Messe, I pray that you will be as good a man as Mussolini was. You have big shoes to fill. I wish you the best of luck in your leadership. Yours, President Metz Leader of Spaizil
President Metz was shocked at what was happening. He had always thought that Mussolini would rule to his death. But he was wrong. He was amazed at the synchronized retirement of two of the most powerful leaders in Hyrule. He had no idea what the new leaders would do, as one was a democracy now. He wondered curiously if their friendship between nations would remain as loyal as it once was, or if the difference in government would lead to the fall of one of the greatest power blocks in Hyrules history.
