OOC - Part of my idea to 'repopulate' the map with active player nations.. See House of Members thread on this for more insight into my 'RP proposal'. In NS, this Nation's name is 'Chang Lung'
The Ottoman Caliphate
Population: 1.4 billion
Primary Religion: Islam
Info: Spawned from the seeds of fundamentalist Islam in the Middle East, the "Ottoman Caliphate' was established in 1981 by 'Caliph Osman I' in the wake of the collapse of Turkish Republic with the mission of 'reviving' the ancient Ottoman Empire in the 21st Century. While intensely fundamentalist in nature, the Ottoman Caliphate is most certainly a modern nation, with all the capabilities of its Western counterparts in military and economic strength. Possessing a huge manufacturing and petroleum base, the Ottoman Caliphate is more than willing to use its economic power to pressure its 'infidel' neighbors to back down from affairs in the Middle East, and bears great resentment to foreign powers interfering in the Middle East.
Government Type: Caliphate
Current Leader: Caliph Abu-Gazid Omar II
Economy: Frightening
Capitol City: Istanbul
Armed Forces
(Ottoman Challenger I MBT)
Estimated Strength: 17,000,000
Active: Unknown
Info: Being a fairly large Middle-Eastern nation with bigger plans for the Middle-East, it is only fitting that the Caliph of Istanbul possess a large and well-maintained military arm to back "Allah's" will on Earth. While slightly less 'high-tech' than their Western counterparts, Omar's forces make up for their minor technologic handicap with great fanatic fevor and excellent leadership, being masters of desert and mountain warfare. Possessing a modern air force and naval arm alongside his massive land army, Ottoman forces are certainly not to be taken lightly.
Small Arms
- AK-103 (7.62x39mm, assault rifle)
- RPK (SAW)
- Glock 19 (9mm, Pistol)
- MG3 (7.62x51mm, machine gun)
- FN FAL (battle rifle)
- Accuracy International
- RPG-29 (anti-tank)
- SA-18 (anti-air)
Armor
- Challenger I (Main Battle Tank of Ottoman Forces)
-
- BTR-T (IFV)
- BTR 90 (APC)
- ZSU-24-4 (Anti-Air)
- Iveco LMV (utility vehicle)
------------------------------------------
The Janissaries
Info - Universally regarded as the finest and most 'politically reliable' military force in the Caliph's armed forces, Janissaries have been trained from boyhood in the arts of war; being levied from society as adolescents and pre-pubscent boys and sent into the Caliph's direct care for an extensive military training. Devout Muslims to a fault, the Janissaries know nothing but Islam and soldiers, more than willing to lay down their lives in an instant for the Caliph's will. While masters at urban, guerrilla, and terrorist warfare; the Janissaries are fully capable of conventinal warfare, having their own mechanized units.
Outfitted with the finest weapons and equipment, the Janissaries (like the rest of the Ottoman Caliphate's troops) are a force to be reckoned with, and pose more than a match against their western counterparts.
Aircraft
- Sukhoi Su-30
- Sukhoi Su-25 (ground attack)
- Mikoyan Mig-27 (attack)
- Antonov An-124 (strategic airlifter)
- Antonov An-22 (transport)
- Tupolev Tu-95 (strategic bomber)
- Mi-8 (transport helicopter)
- Bell AH-1 SuperCobra (attack helicopter)
