Economy: The country's agricultural economy is solely based upon corn, wheat, and barley. The relatively flat land that is abundant in the main island of Mexico Oeste and rich soil made the bread basket highly profitable. The other, more exotic fruits and plants such as pineapple, sugar cane, papaya, and palm trees are found along the outer edges and the smaller islands. Fishing is also an important staple, as the shrimping and salt water fish are found regularly (the fish migrate past the islands to get to the rich food sources off the coast of Stargate).
Business is largely nationalized, and is somewhat corrupted by the politicians that stay in business. The government's strict laws against capitalism have created the relatively weak capital compared to the other nations of Hyrule. The black market is the biggest source of money for the nation, even though it is illegal (obviously). It is said that fourteen year olds selling lemonade have also been tainted by the black market, and thus create a largely uncounted section of money that Mexico Oeste is tracking down slowly and nationalizing.

History
The early aboriginal people were incredibly intelligent, inventing the zero and an astonishingly accurate calander. They kept their progression, but stagnated quite a bit when food was not available for the civilization and nearly all died. The Mexican conquest wiped out the rest of the nation, including their name and everything about them, and the area was repopulated with Mexican citizens. The Mexican Revolution in 1823 caused a change in government from the monarchy establish by the Barona family, into a parliamentary democracy. In 1919, the Socialist Revolution (La Revolución Socialísta) instituted the Socialist party as the majority party in Mexico Oeste, and at first they provided lots of reform, including a new highway system. However, after losing the war with the Neo French Empire, Mexicans were not pleased at all with the government. However, La Parlamente amended the constitution, keeping them in power forever. The people have grown accustomed to having the socialists in power, but wonder what would happen if change were to take place.
