UPDATE MARCH 27, 2006:
New to FactFile: -Halasim recently banned all forms of advertisements. TV studios are now thrilled to have a few extra minutes to work with, but some TV viewers are upset that their favourite commercials for Gefuntewagen Motorworks have disappeared. -Abortions have recently become fully legalised in Halasim. Women are thrilled, the (very small) Christian conservative minority is outraged. But they're all men, so who cares! -Halasimians can now take a larger role in the politics of the land, as they now decide to which department their tax money goes to, and if they gain enough signatures, a referendum can be called on incoming laws. -As a concession to the centrist Beedi party, the Council plans on easing up on some restrictions on local businesses to help boost the economy and save it from a predicted implosion. -As the wall between Halasim and the former nation of Subsector Alpha was demolished, the westernmost cities of Darqua, Fargil, and Havisla have become protectorates; they will be reconstructed and aided by Halasim, and considered Halasim citizens, but remain autonomous city-states until the island is annexed.

Hmm.... I do not think it wise to claim those cities as autonomous city-states to your country, seeing as the nation might be revived. By all means protect them until then, though.

In the event the nation is revived, we will gladly allow them back into their government if they choose.

UPDATE: April 11
-In what could best be called a "kooky madcap scheme," Council Chair Malgunas Yonge proposed a bill to create a Halasimian space program, intent on taking us to the stars. Now that the Rainbow Rail is all paid for, this will likely be the next best spending item for years to come. UPDATE: Project SITH (Space Information and Technology Harvesting) has been announced, as the bill was passed unanimously in Council. OOC: Topic in main Roleplaying forum. -In another unique spending venture, Halasim has a new government agency called "Reaching Out." It's basically a program for people to find enlightenment, be it through meditation, religion, music, or other forms of spirituality. -One final update today: The Halasim Broadcasting Agency is currently working towards getting HyruleVision broadcasts into Halasimian homes. They fully expect to be successful.
