I'm not cruel to them, I do what I think is best for the people, in the long run. So, I keep them socially unopressed, I look after the environment. We respect all religions, although the government is non-religious for obvious reasons, I am very big on defense, but disallow making or testing nucleur or biological arms. I am a space fanatic, I always go for space exploration and military. We have the best weather and are 28th rudest.
Some things you may not like:
Birth control, I try to keep the population down to avoid overcrowding and overusage of natural rescources,
Large police force, no crime but they can be ridiculous with their enforcement sometimes, in which case I get annoyed.
If you find a gold under a lake, you don't get any of it, no mining is allowed there either, environmentally friendly. I dont care about money.
No expanding of cities into green belt.
Excess of cemetaries cause of freedom of your burial choice.
Abortions are legal.
Same sex marriage isn't, neither is prostitution or nudity.
Marriage is for life.
no firearms for civilians
ID card and internet tracking
Organ donation is compulsorary at death (to save lives)
Maybe they are good things. They certainly all sound good. Most of it, however, falls under my list of things that are simply none of the governments business. And what the heck is with the 100% income tax rate? That's 99% of why I wouldn't choose to live in Tri-Hylians. When I work away the best years of my life, take risks, and use ideas, I want to keep my fortune. Not watch the government confenscate it and give it to a bunch of poor bums who are going to drink it all away at the local bar and then run back to the government begging for more hand-outs. There's no insentive to even have a job, let alone do one well, and i'd bet that the standards of living in your nation are rather lower than you would expect.
