In 2139, a team of archeologists found a rock formation outside of Colorado Springs. This rock formation was discovered to have a resonance that, when activated, could send them to other planets. This rock formation sent the men to Ilois, a small planet outside Sol, which was where they met the Yeloites, a race of sentient beings, as smart as the humans but different in ways unimaginable. Then they met the Refutians, Deties, and the Feron. These aliens had their own government, which spanned most of the galaxy except Sol. The rock formation became known as Elemental Resonance, or ElRes. There were rock formations all across the galaxy, placed there by the Assaties, beings who had lived thousands of years before, who had mysteriously vanished. In 2189, a new artifact has been found, one that could shape the Galactic Senate once and for all...
OOC: Mass Effect anyone? This sounds a lot like the game but this is just the intro. It will have a storyline of whatever you guys want and should be different...

OOC: Yeah, I like how you're tying in Mass Effect to this.
IC: It was decided that in order to investigate the artifact, that an advance echelon team would be needed to recover the artifact. It was located on the planet Atticanus, a colony once dedicated to the mining of hydrogen for fuel, but ever since 2179 when a better site was found on nearby Athenakronos, Atticanus basically became a desolate planet full of brigands, outlaws, and wild fauna looking for a meal.
Leading the echelon was Tech Lieutenant George Sampson, a well decorated human with ten years of military experience. In addition, there was a Refutian scientist known as Kali Zadan, a cyborg known only as Adam-41, and another human, Karlos Malingui. They were a very capable team, who were able to look out for each other and themselves.
Upon arriving at the landing site by the research camp, they found an eerie silence at the camp. It was as if the inhabitants just suddenly left, and just last night, the researchers reported no harm whatsoever.
"Command, this is George Sampson. We're at the research camp, and there is absolutely nothing here. It's as if the camp mysteriously vanished. Requesting instructions, out!"
"Uhhh, roger that. Head on to the beacon, and report anything mysterious there."
George replied in the affirmative, and ordered his squad to move out. As they got closer to the beacon, the more chaotic the scene looked. Unlike at the landing zone, which was relatively in order, the beacon site had vehicles all over the place, crates broken, and an awful stench of death, although no bodies could be seen.
"Command, this is George again. We're at the beacon, and still nothing. Although it looks like the scene here is chaotic..." That was all he got out before the line went static. While he and his unit let their guard down, an alien race known as the Skepters silently ambushed all of the echelon. They never saw it coming...

She never saw them. She was just trying to get away from the Skepters and find somewhere to hide. Her entire platoon was dead, even the scientists. The lizard like Skepters tried to cut her off but she ran straight towards the sounds of gunfire. Gunfire meant the Skepters had enemies, and those enemies could be friends to her. She witnessed the firefight when she looked over the ledge. In the valley below, a team of 4 was trying to survive against a Skepter onslaught. They were doing their best to defend but their backs were, literally, up against a wall. She suddenly saw a Skepter flanking the group, and used her Taita skills to fling a boulder at the alien. It fell back, crushed by the rock. The Skepters looked up at her and opened fire. She ducked away, not knowing what to do. Taita Master Sergeant Alli Richards tried using her powers but to no avail. A blast from a lascon gun tore through her shoulder and she winced. She had never been closer to death in her life. She laid there bleeding out, hoping someone would help...

As Alli laid bleeding, she could hear the faint sound of a light assault craft coming in. It was the Brittany (OOC: Think like the Normandy from Mass Effect). And leading the ship was respected and honored Commander Alex Donahue. He noticed that the Skepters were moving in such a large force, so he decided to teach them a lesson.
"Open fire, gun batteries," he said, and respectively, the batteries engaged the Skepter force, killing many and routing the rest. The Brittany slowed down, and Alex noticed something. It was a Taita Master, lying on the ground nearby. Alex knew that although it was risky, it was important for him to save anyone he could. So he ordered the Brittany to touch down by Alli, and when the ship did, Alex ran out, and went over to Alli.
"She's going into an unconscious state. Doctor Rivas, be ready," Alex said over the intercom, and he dragged Alli back into the ship. The ship then took off, but maintained position withing the planet's atmosphere.
Alex carried the unconscious Alli into the medical ward, then Doctor Rivas, "Take good care of her. No need to lose a life." The doctor responded in the affirmative and went to work. She immediately pulled out her medical/surgical kit, and started restoring the blood Alli lost. She hoped that she was not too late to save Alli...

Alli slowly blinked her eyes open and saw the Commander. She had never seen someone of that high a rank before and didn't think that they were Taita. Slowly she asked him, "Who are you?" However, even the effort to get up was too much for her and she fell back on her bed. She suddenly remembered the beacon and the visions she had seen when she had walked close to it. It had enveloped her and gave her disturbing images of death, destruction, and odd beasts. She had made no sense of it but noone else would know what she had seen. The beacon had self destructed when it had finished giving her the message. As if on cue, a soldier rushed in to give the Commander the findings on the mission.
"We found the beacon, but we think the Skeptors destroyed it." The Commander shook his head and sighed. Alli sat up fast, her dark red hair almost slapping her in the face. "It wasn't the Skeptors," she said. The Commander and the soldier looked at her. "It was me." The two men looked at each other and back at her. This was very hard for them to believe. The Commander shook his head again and thought a moment before speaking....

"It wasn't your fault that the beacon did that," Commander Donahue responded, showing signs of acknowledgement. "But tell me this, did the beacon do anything to you? Because the Brittany was going to investigate the beacon, and report back in to the Human Systems Confederacy about it." On cue, as Commander Donahue finished his chat with Alli, his comm link chimed in, and he checked to see that it was from the C.O. of the ship, Admiral Sanderson.
"Donahue. I see that you're not busy. Apparently, The Galactic Union needs us to report in. They wish to discuss not only the Skeptor attack here on Atticanus, but the beacon as well."
"Roger that, Admiral. Donahue out."
Commander Donahue then turned back to Alli, and said, "Sorry about that. But that was the C.O. of the ship. I'm Commander Alexander Donahue, X.O. of the S.S. Brittany. We were heading over to investigate the beacon, when we saw you being attacked. So what happened down there, if I could trouble you to ask..."
OOC: As you could probably tell Dur, I'm making Donahue as paragonesque as possible. Just a heads up.

OOC: Gotcha.
IC Alli had a bit of trouble talking to be people. It stemmed from the fact that she was a Taita user. As a side-effect, she had a social disorder that made her unintentionally shy, so she hesitated before speaking. "I saw, well, I don't know. Some kind of eel like beast. I think it was sentient, but also machine. It was attacking spider-like things. I think it was the Assaty, but I don't know." She looked like she was going to have a break down, but she summoned up all her courage and told the Commander about the most important part. "I saw one last thing. There was a flash of light and they poured in. I don't know from where or why. That's all...wait. One more thing. Right before I activated the beacon, I saw a Feron Shadaw Agent using it. I don't know why." Finally, her shyness was too much for her and she clammed up. Her fearfulness was clear in her eyes and she couldn't help but look away...

Commander Donahue listened to what Alli had to say, then replied, "It's ok. Don't worry, you're safe with us now. But this talk of a Feron Shadaw Agent and an eel like beast really doesn't sound good. If you'd like, you can accompany us as we present this to the Galactic Union. They'll need all the info they can get." Donahue gave Alli a smile, then radioed to the navigator, "How long until we arrive at the Arcadium?"
"About three hours give or take," the voice on the other end replied...
Later
As the S.S. Brittany docked into the massive bay within the Arcadium, Commander Donahue whispered to the repatched Alli, "Be brave. As long as you're with us, you'll be fine." Alli nodded faintly. And with that, the two set off to the Galactic Council to present their case...

"You present your case well. The Union sees this attack as a threat to us as well as to your people. However, your report of a SHock AnD AWe Agent is disturbing. Do you know who it was?" The Refutian Unionor was speaking and had asked Alli a question. She looked up at the Union and spoke warily. "I don't know. There was a red scar on his left eye." The Feron Unionor looked up and looked surprised. "That is Ferloc, one of our greatest Shadaw Agents. And this Agent is not a "he". Ferloc is a female Agent. She recieved the scar when she was on a mission in the Gerterus Arm. She could not have done this. It can not be. If you do not have proof, then you can not strip her of her Shadaw status." The Dety and Refutian nodded. The Dety, the only female on the Union, looked at the group of humans and said, "There is no proof of Ferloc being involved and therefore, she cannot be disbarred." Alli looked up and said, "What about my vision?" The Commander nodded in agreement. The Dety shoke her head. "There is no reason why we should let visions into evidence. This meeting of the Union is disolved." The words echoed in Alli's ears, and she turned to Donahue and said, "They did NOTHING!"
OOC: Alli, although shy, will be renegadish.

Donahue replied, "Calm down Alli. We just need to find more evidence of this. And the best place to look would probably be in one of the cantinas." Donahue finished that up, when Admiral Sanderson came by and told Donahue, "I have something to regret. About fifteen years ago, Ferloc and myself were on a mission to Banzur Prime to investigate a few missing colonists. While we were looking, Ferloc wandered off on her own agendas. When we met up again, her attitude was different. But I couldn't tell any difference."
He continued, "If you need any info, your best bet would be to contact Mazir Talkin. He's a notorious Refutian who apparently knows so much about the Shadaws. But once you get past his gruffness, he's a good man. You'll find him down in the Lower District at the Nine Galaxies Pub."
Donahue nodded, thanked the admiral, then set off to find this Refutian and see what he could learn. As Alli and Donahue rode down the elevator from the Arcadium Tower to the Lower District, they briefly conversed about their past. How Alli volunteered to be a part of the Taiti program, even though she knew the dangers, and how Donahue proudly enlisted in the military at eighteen, like his family did.
The elevator suddenly came to a halt, and the duo stepped out into the Lower District. It was a real fancy district, but got the name Lower from the fact that it was underground. The pair made their way to the Nine Galaxies Pub, but were stopped by two roguish thugs.
"Hand over your money if you want to live," one of them said, aiming a pistol at Alli.
"I wouldn't take the risk if I were you. We're armed and armored soldiers. You probably wouldn't survive long enough," Donahue replied, keeping his cool. Amazingly, the thugs agreed, and let the two pass with no incident. After arriving at the bar, Donahue found Mazir just sitting at the bar, looking out into the night sky. Donahue approached Mazir and said, "According to someone, you have information on Ferloc. What I need is that information. And hopefully, we can conduct this in an honored way."

Mazir looked at the two. "Hey baby. I like the Taita look. Very becoming." Alli looked at him smuggly. "I'd rather chew on rusty razorblades than go out with you. Besides, why are you going after a human? Too ugly for your own kind?" Mazir laughed. "I like 'em with some fire. But your not here to dance in fancy clothes are you." Alli's shyness appeared and she told the Commander, "You talk to him. I'll be outside. I can't stand idiots like him." She walked out of the bar and stood against a wall with her arms crossed. She was about to cry because of how the jerk Mazir had treated her. However, she had no time to cry because of the thugs that started walking into the bar. She got off the wall and started to walk towards the thugs...

The Commander sighed, then turned back to Mazir and said, "I really did not appreciate the way you treated my colleague. But seeing that you tend to act this way, I'll try again. I need information on the Shadaw agent Ferloc. Apparently, you know more than enough about every Shadaw. And plus, it's urgent that I get this information. Otherwise, there may be a lot of trouble."
Donahue noticed that Mazir was pondering the situation. Although he was a jerk, he also had logic. But of course, he was weighing whether to give such information to a man he only met a couple of minutes ago. But Donahue knew that if he didn't, he would just continue to reason with him...
Outside the Bar
The two thugs that Alli and Donahue encountered earlier were making their way into the bar. One of them caught eye of Alli out on her own. They decdided to capitalize on the situation.
"Hey baby, where's your escort?" one of the thugs asked. "You shouldn't be out on the streets alone."
The other added, "Hmmm, it's that girl from earlier. Well, I say we teach her a lesson. After all, her escort is probably getting hammered in the bar."
"Agreed," the first one replied, and the two thugs immediately drew out their pistols, looking to cause mischief with Alli. She was outnumbered, and knew that calling for help would not work. But what the thugs didn't know was that she had a suprise for them...

Using her Taita skills, Alli ripped the first man's gun from his hand and used it to uppercut him in the face. Stunned by this, the thug stumbled backwards. She gather up all her energy and used the thug's momentum to pile drive him into the other one. Both lay sprawled on the ground. When one reached for his gun, Alli picked it up and pointed it at them. "Please don't kill us!" the one said. "You should have said please before pulling those guns, buddy." Then she shot both of them right between the eyes. She threw the gun back to their limp bodies and resumed her leaning as if nothing had happened.
Meanwhile, A-Pol detective Tarzu Molaire, heard the shooting and rushed over to the pub to see what had happened. He gasped when he saw the bodies, and, thinking Alli was innocent, asked her which way the shooter went. "Huh?" she asked. Tarzu looked puzzled. "You know, the shooter," he said. Alli looked him in the eye and that crazy look came onto her face. Tarzu immediately realized she was the culprit. "I'm going to have to take you in for questioning," he said. Alli laughed and moved off the wall. She proceeded to slowly move towards the detective, fire in her eyes...

Mazir ended his pondering, then told the Commander, "Here. This is a datadisk with Ferloc using a communications terminal with the Skeptors. It confirms her leading a contigent on the assault on Atticanus. Now leave me be. I need my pleasure, and my booze." And with that, Mazir turned back to the spectacle of dancing girls.
Donahue decided to go out and tell Alli the good news, when he noticed that an A-Pol detective was interrogating her. He also saw the dead bodies of the thugs he knew from earlier on the ground. Knowing what happened, he went over to the detective and asked him, "Excuse me officer, is something wrong?"
The detective turned to Donahue, and said, "Well, this person is accused of the murder of these two people. I need to bring her in for questioning."
Donahue replied, "That won't be necessary. You see, those two people were actually thugs, and earlier before we arrived here, they tried to jump us. We managed to stop them with words, but my comrade there decided to wait outside. And apparently, those thugs followed us here and tried to jump her. And she acted in self-defense to protect herself."
The officer listened and said, "But why kill them? She could have disauded them."
Donahue thought about a lie that would seem reasonable, and in a good way, then added, "She has a hate against thugs. They took her parents life long ago, and I became sort of a father figure to her." He knew that was not true, as Donahue was only 29, but he continued, "She's a good girl, but when I'm not around, she has a tendancy to get off on thugs to calm her visions."
The A-Pol detective listened, and remarked, "Somehow, I don't believe it, but I do share respect and courage for you. I'll let her go, but please, try not and kill anymore thugs than necessary. After all, I get enough with the random homicides and rapes down her anyways." Tarzu turned and left, remarking, "The fact that one girl downed two thugs, is beyond my beliefs. Then again, I've seen crazier things down here."
Alli turned to Donahue, and said, "Wow Commander. You saved me twice now. I can't believe you were able to prevent the officer from taking me in." To this, Donahue replied, "Don't mention it Alli. I do what is good to make sure that a situation doesn't go chaotic. By the way, I got the needed information, after persauding that Refutian over and over." Donahue removed the datadisk from his pocket, and inserted it into his PDA. What came next was shocking...
A continued transmission... Skeptor voice:...Then it is settled. We hope that you will be able to support our attack on Atticanus to show the rest of the universe a lesson. That we Skeptors are not to be messed with. Ferloc: I pledge all the support I can provide to your cause. As soon as I finish up here, I will head on out. Skeptor: Excellent. Proceed to the drop off point when you arrive. You'll meet up with the group you will command. Bless the Skeptors!.... Rest of the transmission goes on about details of the attack
Donahue knew that might be enough to convince the Council of Ferloc's evil. He only hoped that would be enough to get the council to intervene....
Arcadium Tower, minutes later.
Commander Donahue and Alli returned to the Galactic Council, hoping for the best possible outcome. When the council asked them about whether they had any evidence to support their claims. And when Donahue opened up the datadisk and started presenting the conversation, everyone listened in intently. Donahue had only hoped it would be enough...

The Union listened in amazement to the transmission. They were very surprised by the news. However, they still needed a way to find Furloc. Only another Shadaw Agent could take her down. Alli spoke up. "What about those eel-like things I saw? They were attacking the galaxy AND COULD NOT BE STOPPED!" The Feron responded angrily. "Hold your tongue, girl! You do not speak to the Union like that. As we said, we cannot allow dreams and visions into evidence. You will be escorted away from here if you speak like that again. Now, where are we going to find a Shadaw Agent capable of terminating Furloc?" Alli shook her head and told them. "Agents are too arrogant. You cannot let someone like that go after a person like Furloc. She will bribe them with something. You need a reliable person."
