Mmm.... I'm gonna use my uber 1337 Minister of Forein Affairs, and bypass the system and allow this embassy.
What I ahve Written, I have written. Let it be Done.

Hmm.... well an abstained vote is basically equivalent to no vote (except it's on the record as such), so the FOR's should have it anyway.

You are not allowed to declare a vote null and void. That is over-stepping your power, and is not democratic.
However, since people have strong feelings towards this region, I will allow a re-vote, if most people call for one. But only this time.

Ness, I agree that GM was sort of overstepping his authority, but the final vote tally was emphatically in favor of allowing the embassy. The abstains don't count. Only No's should count against a proposal.

There is really no point in a revote, the FORs won.... Abstain means you choose NOT to vote, it DOES NOT mean that you are voting against it. Therefore the FORs did win....

Surely if you are going to abstain from voting then you shouldnt bother posting. Thats what I did and I think it makes more sense. Though I agree with Ness, no one should ever be allowed to just over-turn what she has declared like that, it doesnt seem right. Even if technicaly the FOR's won.
Just my 2p

Hmmm thats what I mean. Abstain doesn't mean against, it basically means I aint voting... but maybe my mind works in a different way or something. But Ness' word goes and you cant just over turn decisions like that (like Robengrad said).

I was unaware of that little rule about Abstain votes and embassy admissions. For that I apologize (also, thank you Hilaya for linking it).
However, I agree with Arcaia that this is a rather peculiar way to treat Abstain votes. It is pretty standard practice that "Abstain" is a registered non-vote, so it should not affect the outcome in any way.

Well, I suppose the point of the abstain was to be..."Well, I dunno..I'm iffy" But people forgot about that rule, it seems, and vote abstain when they don't know....or don't want to vote against.
